Uconnect not pairable with bluetooth
Just bought a 2011 Charger with the 8.4 screen. Neither I nor the dealer can pair our phones with it. I went to the wireless provider and found out that the smart phones will pair but the feature phones will not. They say the software is not backward compatable. I have only had my phones for less than a year on a two year contract. Does anyone know a workaround?
I'd like to know what phone you have just so others will see and know this. I don't quite know the meaning what a feature phone is myself too.
When I had my Charger, I was able to anything to it as long as it was bluetooth capable. To be honest, there were only 3 different phones paired. 2 black berry's and a LG something. One of those flip screen phones with the hidden keyboard. Don't know if that would be considered a smartphone or a feature phone.
Anyway, back to your deal. If you are coming up on a year with your phone, your provider will still give a discount on replacing your phone at the one year mark. This is if you go with a new replacement. Usually it is not much of a discount, but it is offered. Another option is to look on the providers website and look for a refurbished phone that will work and that you will like. Last option is EBAY, not the best way though as you won't get a warranty and you won't know what you get until you open the box. Replacing your phone will not effect your contract. The contract states you must maintain service for the 2 years. They don't care what phone you have.
All of these options will help you get a phone that is pairable with the car and trust me, you will like the option of having the phone integrated. The best reason that I liked having my phone paired up? I could have my radio as loud as I wanted and I never missed a call.
This is the only way that I know how to get around it. The pairing process just doesn't allow you to make / receive calls. It integrates with your phone book too, so I guess if a certain phone won't allow those features to pair up, the whole pairing process is nixed.

The phones I have are the Samsung Convoy, SCH-U640 and the Chocolate, LG-VX8575. The verizon tech calls them feature phones because they are not data phones. Sure would have been nice if the dealer had told me I would not be able to pair my phones with this version of Uconnect. I would have still bought the car but my expectations would have been lower for this capability. I could have planned ahead for newer phones and not spend an entire day at the dealers and the wireless provider trying to pair a phone that is not compatable with the system. I am sure I am not the first to have this problem but a forewarning would be nice. I will resolve the problem by getting compatible phones unless someone has a better idea.
Success. I was able to pair the LG Chocolate with Uconnect. I had to go back and delete everything that was already paired on the phone and clear everything off the Uconnect screen and start all over. At first, it only wanted to pair as an audio device but after a couple of trys it paired as a phone and an audio device. I have still not been able to pair the Samsung Convoy because I get an error code that says "incorrect passkey" I then enter "0000" but I still get the same error message.
There are 3 different Suppliers for the Chrysler Uconnect system. Unfortunately they are not all eaqual quality and 1 out weighs the other 2 as far phone compatability and supported features.
Anyway the MFG for the Charger radio (4.3 & 8.4) is MAgnet Marelli. I would call their Technical dept about issues. They should be able to help you more than the dealers. (hopefully anyway). I would try to help but I have no experiance with those radios.
