So everything swapped over onto the new engine, no problem?

I have a '05 Magnum with 5.7L Engine in it, that needs swapping - I have access to 5.7L Dodge Truck motor, that I'm hoping I can put into my vehicle.

Just wondering if this will work, and if so, what are the differences between the two motors and what will I have to change?

I guess it all depends on what year the truck engine is. I am not familiar with the 05 engines, so there may be a difference from my swap. You never mentioned the year of the Ram engine

In my application I installed a 2007 Dodge Ram Engine into a 2006 Dodge Charger. I stripped the Ram engine down to the heads/block and swapped all the accessories over from one engine to the other. I also had to swap the crank sensor since the connector was different on the 07 Ram engine, but it was only one bolt and slipped right in.

There is a dipstick tube hole in the block on BOTH engines. On the charger the dipstick tube is routed through the oil pan and the block hole is not used. This hole from the factory is plugged with a very small steel plug (on the Charger). I just popped out the plug and installed it on the "New" Ram engine with a little RTV.

06-08 should all interchange as far as long blocks are concerned. These all have MDS (except 2500/3500 Rams). I think that you can use a MDS long block on older vehicles, you just don't wire up the MDS harness. Use the original non MDS harness for the vehicle.

Glad the swap went well. They do look like a tight fit in the cars. My Ram has much more wiggle room
