Overheat .. dodge charger 2010 se v6 3.5L
Hi
My car is a dodge charger 2010 se v6 3.5L
I down the both heads out ,send it to Machine and replaced the full gasket (up &down) I changed the timing belt, pulley, water pump , coolant with 2 pipe ,thermostat and spark plugs.
The car seem ok now except the overheating.
But I believe that, the thermostat should be there for a purpose.
Do you think, I need to down the head again and replace the gasket

the car was fine until p0305 show up

The mechanic tried many times to release the air from the cooling system and checked the radiator for blockage (radiator bleeding),but no use
the overheating is remain
Its looks the thermostat not allow the water to go inside !
I am driving the car now without thermostat !! the car its seem fine and I can drive it for long time, the temperature is moving between quarter to half !
But I believe that, the thermostat should be there for a purpose.
Do you think, I need to down the head again and replace the gasket
or maybe its a water pump failure ?
where's the wrong could be ?
any suggestion I will appreciate
thank you
maybe you got a bad thermostat out of the box. Or did you installed the thermostat inside out?
I don't think it is a waterpump failure or a bad head gasket, because you said it doesn't over heat when you run without a thermostat.
Also, what happen if you blast you heat at full speed?
Or yeah, does the cooling fan work?

Just make sure the CAN says OK for Head Gasket, waterpump gaskets, etc...
I use that on almost everything except exhaust gaskets. It works great. Just make sure sealing surface is clean, and after you spray the gasket, do NOT drop it on the floor, it will collect dirts.
Or just go to the dealer and buy the Mopar Spray on gasket maker, their
parts guy will know what you are talking about. Tho I think they are made by permatex.

Make sure the Machine shop check for CRACKS on the head.
thank you very much for the advice .. I will start the work next week
hope this is final
I will updat the thread, after that
thank you again

Hi were you ever able to fix it I’m having the same problem except I bought the car and it has no thermostat and runs fine but wanted to get rid of the check engine and put a new one in and overheats. Bled the system twice too.
He hasn't been here in 11 years. I doubt he even still owns the car.
