Default 2008 Charger - Aftermarket Stereo

I have an aftermarket stereo on order.

The guy at Crutchfield advises me to buy this custom wiring harness:

Axxess XSVI-6522-NAV Wiring Interface: Connect a new car stereo and retain RAP and audible blind spot detection in select 2007-up Chrysler, Jeep, Mitsubishi, and Dodge models

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1206522...Interface.html

Price: $59.99

He said I would need the adapter so that the stereo would work with the Charger's CAN-Bus wiring.

Is that correct?

This 2008 may be old, but it is the newest vehicle I have ever owned.

Looking for input from someone else who has installed an aftermarket stereo in their 2008-2010 Charger/Magnum/300.

What are you interfacing with on your car? Steering wheel controls would be enough to justify it.

The factory radios do NOT have Ignition feed. They only have a battery feed. They get their "wake-up" signal from the BUS circuits.

No steering wheel controls.

I think I just need this for the "wake-up" signal from the BUS circuitry.

Or you can just find an ignition source to tap into. I used one of the power outlets on my 2007 Ram. Be aware some cars are equipped with a movable fuse for the outlets that can make it battery feed or ignition feed. I believe slot 18 in the rear fuse box (in the trunk) is your power outlet.

Awesome! That's what I was thinking.

No, I didn't know it was plug #18, but I was thinking there was only 1 or 2 wires with the signals I needed out of that whole $60 adapter.

Thanks!

Go with recommended parts. It will make it plug&play instead of splicing wire.Crutchfield doesn't sell what you don't need.....................
