It's not the fit you need to worry about. You do, but in your case it's the temp./heat of when the thermostat opens up to allow full circulation from the radiator to your engine.
I would stick with the OEM part as your replacement. By doing so, the fit and function of the thermostat will be met. And you won't have to worry about either later.
