The light went away, but I guess Ill switch back to 5w20 at the next oil change. The car is a 2007 charger RT with the road and track package. It has 128k miles, and the engine is stock. I changed the coil packs and plugs last year, but thats it, not even a K&N. I lowered the car with coil overs, and added staggered wheels and tires, but that has nothing to do with this.

Copy That. And good luck, keep us posted.

If your gauge cluster will display the oil pressure I would run it there and find out the allowable minimum psi @cruise and go from there.

Get under there and check the condition of the sender and the wire connection.
They say the senders fail at max but maybe its not failed as much as it is defective.
If you see oil change it. I would be changing it anyways.

Ok, I was thinking about you today on an errand run and set my info display to oil pressure.

2013 R/T 90k miles.

Mobil1 5W-20 with about 500 miles since changed.

Cold idle and driving until it warms up 66psi.

Full operating temp @cruise 56psi.

Full operating temp winding through the gears normally 62 psi.

Stopped Idle in drive 41 psi.

Idle in park 44psi.

You have an eagle engine though, not quite a direct comparison. The pressures he's getting temp wise line up perfectly with both my 05 and 06 R/T's.

The light has not come back on again. I think it had something to do with the heat, and the fact that it was a little low, even though it was only about 1/2 - 3/4 qt. The car is running perfectly, as usual. I love this thing.

I will switch back to 5w20 at the next change, just in case. At least until I can build another motor, and get rid of the mds.

Kool.
I don't know about you but I like my MDS. I tested it and the savings between 40 & 70mph are great. And the car will cruise at 100mph on 4 cylinders? Yes!
There is no performance loss and it comes out of MDS instantly.
I run HPTuners and until HPT figures it out we can only change the minimum mph when it comes on from 9mph to 20mph.

There is really no draw back to MDS other than some aftermarket exhausts getting a bad in the cabin drone. With my Corsa its minimal.

One thing I notice is in my average mpg recovers much faster with MDS enabled.
Disable it and use heavier weight oil and visit the pumps more often.

Good luck.

I agree the gas savings could add up, but I want to avoid the drone at speeds too. There is a bad hesitation when I am off throttle, and start up a hill (its my main complaint about this car, it takes quite a bit of throttle to get it to downshift and go).I blame the mds and the drive by wire throttle pedal, although that could be misplaced. I also plan on boosting the car in the future, so Im not sure how that will work with only half the cylinders. Im not really concerned with fuel economy.

Or just get a tuner and turn it off. Then you can run 5W-30 with no problems if
you wish.

Just threw a P1524 engine code. Saying low oil pressure I'm running 33 pounds at idle cold from what I've read this is within the normal range. Any suggestions? 2018 ram 1500 5.7.

Wonder if the PCM uses the same sensor the dash gauge does..... or if there is a separate one for that. I don't know.... But, if you have good pressure at idle, fully warmed.... clear the code, see if it comes back.

When is the last time you had an oil change? Is the level up to snuff?
