Shifter won't come out of park

I have 2006 Charger R/T. My shifter won't come out of park. I took the cover of the console, there's a cable connected to the shifter. When I pull in on the cable it releases the shifter. Does it mean I need a new cable or a fuse or ????? Thank You.

Sounds like the dreaded pink thing broke. Is the latch piece still intact?
