Had the same issue (2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6L - 98k miles). Can confirm that the issue is a crack in the oil cooler housing/ failed seals. My symptoms were milky, brown liquid in coolant system. Low oil, but no water in the oil.

Replaced with the aluminum version “Dorman - OE Solutions Engine Oil Filter Adapter 926-959”.

Disclaimer I am not a mechanic and do not know the safety and mechanical concerns of doing the following…To cleanse the oil from the coolant system I ran diesel through and drained twice. Then water four times.

Some rough luck, my Durango is at 160k on the factory one, knock on wood, just replaced the radiator so I suppose it would happen now.
