i agree with you ix we payed alot for our systems and should have something that 1 works 2 upto date remember that gps system was a 1595 option not something that was a free unit and should thank god we got something free,if im paying top dollar i want top quality.is suing the right option that depends on customer service ,if no satisfaction is givin and results are dismal at best maybe that is the only option.i was a little pissed off myself i was in manhattan looking for a wendys and everyone with the 1 mile was not there in the end i was on my way home hungrey and pissed .on the other hand my wife has a tom tom 300 and that thing kicks a$$ and for only 400 bucks no where near 1595.

Just a thought but have you gone back to your dealer and asked them for a newer disc? Im sure you could borrow it and burn a new copy or they might just give you one. That would be a very petty lawsuit and a waste of resources. Maybe you have more $ than cents but whatever. California is suing car manufacturers for green house effect. Your whinen because of the cost of your Nav system just wait! Sue Sue Sue! Just makes the cost of EVERYTHING go up!! This nonsense just gets me rowled up!! TOO MANY LAWSUITS!!!!

I do not advocate suing over something this petty. However I have a memory like an elephant, and choose not ever purchase or specify their products again. If they want to be greedy, and frankly $199.00 fricken dollars is SOOOO GREEDY, then I will get a bootleg. I kinda imagine NAVTEQ as evil, but a goofy evil, like Dr. Evil, in Austen Powers... They can have 0% of $199.00 or 100% of say... $29.00. They chose UNWISELY. Heck, with a community as strong as this, there will be a unauthorized, uncopyrighted, unprofitable, perfectly working copy in every car.
"...Greed is good." (quote by Gordon Gecko from the movie "Wall$treet") No, it is not, when being held hostage by a single vendor.
BOYCOTT NAVTEQ !!!!
CHE !

While I agree that we probably should have received more up to date systems with our units, I doubt it is Navteq's fault. Dodge probably negotiatiated an OEM deal for so many million DVDs at a rediculously low price knowing at the time that it was outdated. Now those of us that are unhappy can at least upgrade. I personally don't feel that the $199 is all that bad. I usually spend $149 a year or so on the TomTom that is in each of my service trucks.
