Default Oil Pressure switch 2012 dodge charger 3.6

hi all
need a little help here
i have a 2012Dodge Charger 3.6 and i had an engine codeP0520 for oil pressure switch. i've watched a few youtube videos and my question is how many switches or sensors are there. On a couple of videos its shows the person or mechanic replacing the whole oil filter housing and on a couple of videos it shows them removing the windshield wipers and then the cowl right underneath it and then then the switch is acessed from there.
im just a bit confused because when i went to the auto parts store i bought the switch and when i went to the mechanic he told me that the wole oil filter housing had to be replaced.
