Dodge ChargerThe Dodge Charger. The car that made its competitors shiver in the 60's is reborn in 2006 into a sleek sedan that can still send the competition home wimpering, the Dodge Charger.
Hey, Im new to the forum. I working on my wife's 2011 dodge charger pursuit. About two years after her driving it we noticed a ticking sound and the misfiring engine code, the lifter failed and took out the cam. If I had to go into the engine I wasn't going stock. I bought the following:
Install went well with no major issues. I found a base tune online from HP Tuners and loaded it. Disabled the MDS. Before I started it I held the throttle pedal to the floor to allow oil to circulate thru the engine. Then attempted to start, it will start and then die, and now I have the following engine codes:
P0108 - Manifold Absolute pressure / Baro sensor high (permanent) ........Maybe the MAP sensor
P0118- Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor 1 circuit High.......Probably due to minimal water in the engine
P0123- Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor A circuit high
P0222- Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch B circuit low
None of these codes were present before I started. The battery was disconnected prior to starting. (I replaced the battery) I have check all the wiring and it all seams good. Im a bit confused maybe someone can assist... I hope so.
Plug in your scanner, and see what values you are getting for throttle, and pedal position.
You will need to turn off MDS in your tune to clear a few of those codes.
See what MAP is telling the PCM as well. I suspect you have a short to voltage in there somewhere, and that is likely what is screwing up various sensors.
Clear codes, try and start it again, and see what comes back.
Most of these are probably tune (or lack thereof) related. Assuming you have stock gearing and converter, this is likely too much cam for the car as it sits. Check to ensure your pushrods are seated correctly and check any kind of wiring connections and grounds you touched.
I've always been leery of AMS (though there are ALOT Of companies that do the same ****), here's part of the reason why:
If you're trying to sell Chrysler stuff and can't even spell 'Chrysler' correctly....
There are no "Hellcat" lifters unless they are actually sitting in a Hellcat. Every non-MDS lifter from a 5.7 all the way up to a Demon is the same part number and are the same revised design since 2015. They also like to trade on people's fears that it's MDS that causes lifter failures (it isn't).
The 'Apache' is the 392 (which is probably what this cam was originally spec'd for), not the 5.7 of which version is the 'Eagle'.
All push rods are seated and all connections are good. So being that I'm pretty much at a stand still, do you know what company I can reach out to get custom tune emailed to me?
