Default 2015 dodge charger AWD pursuit - MDS & Chip questions...

Good Morning;
I just purchased a used 2015 dodge charger AWD pursuit with the 5.7l engine - the car has 101,000 miles on it and in Excellent Used condition.

QUESTIONS:

1) How would I know while looking at the dash gauges as to" If" the MDS has kicked in while I am driving? (I am Not seeing anything flash onto the dash gauges indicating that it is on while on the highway, but I don't know what I am looking for either)

2) I would like to buy some sort of Hand Held/Operated Chip so that I can make sure to De-Activate the MDS system. The car has plenty of power so I am not interested in boosting Horse Power nor Torque in the engine.

***This car currently has a driveline issue so I am going to order a aftermarket , possibly a One-Piece, driveline and a friend of mine who has a shop is going to R&R the driveline for me. Has anyone upgraded their divelines in their Chargers and if so which BRAND Driveline did you install &... how has that driveline been working since installation?

Thank You So Much Everyone,
Bo.

I don't think MDS ever tells you if it is active or not. I know on the shop truck, when the engine was in 4 cylinder mode, it had a bit of a vibration to it, but, that was barely noticeable.

MDS is for fuel economy, just to be clear on that. Disabling it won't get you anything.

Need a pretty high zoot scanner for that kind of thing. (bi-directional at the very least.....) I am not sure there IS a handheld out there that will do it, (aside from the multi-thousand dollar fellers....) likely need some variety of tuning software. (HP Tuners?)

What part of the driveline is giving you an issue?

I am only familiar with the 2006 - 2010 police models and on those the dash would show something (I forget what) on the instrument display showing the MDS had turned on.

I want to disconnect the MDS as it is known as being the cause of Lifter problems. I would rather drive on 8 cylinders All The Time.

The driveline on this car is like a 2 piece but yet does not come apart, in the middle of the driveline is a: "Carrier Bearing" and mine is completely shot and the driveline is slightly wobbling when driving make a rubbing sound from directly under the center console. Apparently it is a problem on the newer dodge chargers including rear wheel drive versions as well.

1) You won't, unless the 'Eco' mode light has been activated; keep in mind, Eco mode and MDS are not always the same thing.
2) You need a tuner, not a chip. Chip burning went out in the 90's. Your problem is that all 2015+ Mopar PCM's are locked. You would have to either get your PCM unlocked or buy one already unlocked. Your other option here is to drive in manual mode.

No lol, MDS is not the cause of lifter problems (stay off facebook & youtube) or it wouldn't happen to manual trans cars (it does), it would only ever be cylinder numbers 1, 4, 6 & 7 (it isn't) and it would've destroyed the millions of pre-2011 5.7's running around using it every day (it didn't).
There was bad run of lifters where they cheaped out on the construction and they weren't up to the task.
Understandable if you want to drive on all 8 all the time, but place the blame where it belongs. Also I can tell you it works really well. I have a 392 Charger that I take long road trips in. The MDS coupled with keeping my foot out of it & use of cruise control, I routinely go two states away and back again on less than 1 tank of gas. On the occasions I feel like ruining that, all I have to do is stomp lol.

I have a priority list
1) Replace Driveline with better aftermarket 1 - piece driveline
2) New PCM & Hand Held Tuner
_

DRIVELINE

I have a quote from Action Machine Inc. in Indiana for either their:
a) Factory Style 2 piece driveline with Their carrier bearing - $959.66 - in stock
b) Optional 1-piece aluminum 3 1/2" diameter driveline - $1463.36 - one week build and ship after order

The shop manager told me on the phone that Their New Factory replacement 2-piece has been Problematic with some vibration issues and pre-mature carrier bearing wear.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PCM

HHP - High Horse Performance
a) New PCM / Hand Held Tuner "I3" - $1107.95
b) New PCM / Hand Held Tuner "T2" - $1230.95

***These the only companies I have actually talked to on the phone so far

PCM Note: I have tried to contact Diablesport twice yesterday and once today.
both calls yesterday I was on hold for 15 minutes with No Answer so I hung up.
Today I was on hold again for 15 minutes and I chose to hang up again. I never spoke to a person on the phone.

For what ever reason they are not answering their phone within a reasonable amount of time so I am Not going to try their products - Maybe they are under manned or they dont have any product and choose not to answer, just some guesses as I dont know why they arent answering their phone.

I will go with HHP for my PCM Unlock interests.
