I used to have a Green '71 Dodge Dart Swinger Special (for those of us at home, it was a Canadian-only made Dart hardtop that had the 340 under the hood). Particularly, I miss the car because it was such a rare find (only 75 were known to have been built!). Sadly though, my EX-girlfriend from a few years back decided to wrap it around a tree- if anything would make a grown man cry, this would've been it!

Here is a link to some information concerning the '71 Swinger Special 340s if anyone is interested: http://www3.sympatico.ca/f.bevil/71Swinger340.html

I had a two door 1969 Valiant. Yeah I know it was a box but I loved her. Roll the windows down and you had like 8 feet of nothing. It only had a slant six, but it would not die. I would love to stuff a huge engine in one of those cars.

I owned a '69 Charger SE. Had a 383 w/650 Holley, headers with free flow mufflers out the back (2.5" tubes all the way), everything else on the engine was stock. Torqueflight 727 3 speed auto with a Transgo shift kit. Never officially timed it on the 1/4 mile so I don't know how fast it was, but I got looks when I could squawk the tires shifting from 1st to 2nd under 50% throttle or more. Only other mods were to replace the front torsion bars with the thicker hemi/440 ones. Also replace the real leaf spring with the hemi version which had two extra leafs for a stiffer ride. To complete the suspension I added front and rear sway bars. It sat very stealthy with 70x15 rubber on front, 60x15 rubber in the rear. Wish I had pictures of it, but I was young and didn't think about doing that back then.

It was a 440 Magnum / 727. The car had the strangest options and I loved it! It had the 14" (not 15") Rallye wheels, luggage rack, 8-track, rear window defroster and an interior that matched the exterior, it was a strange car. I sold it because at the time. prices weren't really moving on these cars. Well, 7 years later and the thing is probably worth 40-60k, I only paid 14k for it and a lot of old timers back in 1999 thought I was crazy for paying that!

Hopefully as the stock market strengthens and the housing market softens, the supply of these cars will increase a bit so the prices come back down. Prices on E-bodies was pretty crazy in 1991-1993 too, it seems to be cyclical.

'63 Polara 440 4 door. My first n favorite car. I was 17 n didnt know much about cars then. Paid $100 bucks for it. Needed a battery, water pump and a couple freeze plugs to drive. Old lady said it was her recently deceased husband's. She didnt know anything bout cars either. Let me do the repairs in her driveway. Drove it home n my drunken dad comes out to bust my ***** bout the hundred bucks I just flushed down the crapper(he wasnt a big Mopar fan).So I got the hood up to make sure the pumps not leaking, n he starts flipping out sayin "holy $#@#$$% , look at the size of that motor!!!" etc, etc. Turns out it had a 426 wedge stuck in it! That was 1987. She was white outside n red inside. Pushbutton auto. 4 bald bias plys. God I miss her. Had to sell her in late '88 when my daughter was born...... Fair trade..... I guess.... Any how, sold it to a girl from school with the agreement that she take care of it till I can buy it back once I got my feet back on the ground. She gave me $2300 bucks n totaled her 2 weeks later.

the frenzy over the new challenger has actually brought the e-bodies into the highest price range now...there were e-bodies at the nationals completely rotted out, with no drivetrain, going for 10 grand...
