Question on Incentives
Hey guys, I was curious as to whether any of you might actually work for Dodge and know the answer to my question...
I'm looking to purchase a new Daytona Charger. I'm in Florida, but I'm looking at different dealerships all over the states due to the nature of the limited production. I'm getting a ton of quotes with different incentives, and I'm aware that only the incentives in my area apply...but regarding things like 'No Payments Until January', are these specific to the dealer or is it a regional thing? Chrysler says they have nothing to do with deals like that, only the cash incentives.
The reason I'm asking is because a dealership in NY says they can't offer that because Chrysler isn't offering it. A dealer in NJ says they're offering it, but the vehicle isn't really my top choice. Does it sound like the NY dealership is giving me the runaround? They were extremely firm regarding not being able to do it...maybe because it's the first part of the month?
Anyone have any recommendations?...this is my first purchase and I'm new to the process. Any info would be helpful...

Yes different dealers will have different incentives as far as financing. That will also only be through their financing not yours. I found something out when I purchased mine. It had a sticker price of $33500.00 the best I could do at any other dealer was like $32,000.00 I had a guy I have known for years and found out that he worked at a local dealer and bought the same car the others were selling for $27,300.00 I even got $1,000.00 more for my trade in. Go figure. I had no idea there was that kind of money in the mark up of new cars. I had to take the chrysler financing to get the $1000 off as well.....so I paid 1 payment at like 7.9% and refinanced the car at my bank for 4.9% the following day.
I did find 4 dealers within 100 miles tha had different financing deals though.

You would be hard pressed in this area to find a Dodge dealer marking new cars up more than $300-$600. Heavy competition here.
But there is good markup from dlr invoice to MSRP on most models, but nobody ever pays MSRP for a vehicle - I sure hope you didn't anyway.
Since you are dealing with NY and NJ dealers, you must be in that area, right?
Rebates ARE all the same from dealer to dealer(providing they are in the same sales zone/district)...but the starting price will vary.
The NorthEast Zone has $1,000 Bonus Cash if you finance with CFC.
Also a $1,000 Bonus Cash on 'aged inventory' this is only available on cars invoiced to the dealer on or before Dec 31, 2005.
Yes, if you finance through CFC you can put off payments until 2007.
But it is a maximum 60 month contract - so you have no payments for 6 months...now your purchase price is divided among the remaining 54 months. And interest will accumulate during the first 6 months as well. (not trying to talk you out of it, just giving you a heads up.)
I'm actually in Florida. Isn't it dealer specific when you're talking about no payments until January? Chrysler said they have nothing to do with that, only the dealer's do it. Besides, could I just refinance come January with my bank and avoid the 54 months at trillion dollar payments gig?
Justin - local financing equals local rules and incentives, except, perhaps, CFC, since it is nation wide. It could still differ from dealer to dealer. Depends on the relationship each specific dealer has with each specific loan institution.

That is the key to the financing at most dealers. Atleast that is what I have found. Supply and demand is the key on how much they will cut the prices on you. I bought mine right at the highest gas price increase and all they were selling at the time was just Toyotas and gas mileage cars. They had a lot full of Chargers and at least 2 dozen of last years 05 Magnums still with the employee discounts off the sticker price. That dealership has really cut their inventory of Hemi cars now though.

I'm financing through Chrysler though initially. So all the relationship stuff is out of the question.
The problem I've run into is that Chrysler Financial is telling me they only deal with cash incentives, and that the local dealerships can do whatever they want with the offers for 'No payments till January' and things of this nature. However, the dealers are telling me that they can only offer these programs when Chrysler is running that promotion. The Finance director at one of the dealerships I spoke with actually got pissed that Chrysler was 'throwing them under the bus' by telling me it was their deals. He assured me he was not able to run such promotion without their monthly incentive programs to match that.
It sounds like I'm simply just going to have to get down to the actual paperwork before I figure out who the heck is telling the truth here. There are a few dealerships that have said they can give me the 'no payments' deal, but I'm wondering if they're just trying to suck me in to get me to stop talking to other dealers and focus on theirs...then let me down in the showroom.
If anyone that works at Dodge has the answer here, please fill me in so I'm not getting bent over here. Thanks.

You can hook up with someone that works for Chrysler and use the friends and family program and you get 2% under invoice (is that what you used baldyloxs)...I actually used the family control number (sis is a big wig). Got and excellant deal. No instant rebates but it was 6% under invoice and I used the Chrysler financial to get the $1000 off. They did ask I paid a minimum of three payments to Chrysler before refinancing at another institution. They (the dealership) is hit if a customer does not pay at least 3 payments through CF. Fine with me. Find a control number and get all the discounts you can.
