Extended range remote opener
Just thought I'd pass this tidbit of info:
You can extend th range of the remote door opener by pressing the key under your chin while you depress the open door tab.
You can get slightly lower range extension by pressing the key to your wrist.

Huh? You wanna elaborate a little more on this. My biggest irritation is the remote trunk opener. Sometimes it takes two clicks; sometimes it takes three. And ITS range isn't all that great, at least on mine.

Sure, I'll elaborate: as we know the range of the remote opener is not too great. One thing that an acquiantence of mine found purely by happenstance was that when he pressed the metal key under his chin while drepressing the "open door locks" the distance from the reciever to the car was greatly increased!
I know that it sounds odd (in fact down right queer), but all that we could surmise was that our heads became giant antennae thereby increasing the range of the remote.
Try it out for yourself---it's free and it doesn't hurt.

PS: I have no explanation for your trunk release...mine works as described: 2X to open.

Lol, I've been doing this for years. Yes, it does work, yes, the battery(ies) are good. When you do this you are now an extra antenna or a range extender if you will. It works for both stock and aftermarket key fobs. Odd, yes it is, but try it, play around with it. Just know that in a garage full of cars or interference the range will be affected.

Hey, I'll try anything, well almost anything, once. Could be the battery in mine is getting low. I recently found out that my car had been built, and around, for quite sometime before I bought it. Now, she has a happy home

Glad to hear your car has a happy home! These are wonderful machines, and with the proper tuning will be nothing short of *****-out!!
Yep, pretty nice vehicles. I almost let a Scion sC whip me last night. He kind of snuck up on me, it was a rolling "start", about 40 mph. I saw him coming, but thought he'd pull even with me before he hit it, but he didn't. By the time mine downshifted (I was in "D") he pulled me by about 3 car lengths. When I did get rolling, I was catching him, but traffic up a head forced me to get out of it before catching him. He didn't want to play from a standing start, or if he was playing, I couldn't tell and all I saw was him fading into the distance.
I got on line to see just what those things had in them - 160 HP, and 163 torq. But, the amazing thing about those cars is that their 5 - 80 mph times are pretty good! Plus, they have a very close ratio 5-speed. Sorry I almost let you guys down, there. But in the end, the R/T emerged on top.
