My BS meter just got pegged... 44 HP from a CAI... [&:]

Mapson, I have one of the best CAIs on the market, the K&N 63 series. There is NO WAY you can get 44 more HP from ONLY installing a cold air intake. I looked at the site, and they MUST have done other things, but, my boy, this is proposterous.

Don't believe it.

By the way, their price is like their HP claims -- TOO MUCH!

It may be a good intake but there is no way you will get awhere near 44.2 Horsepower out of a CAI.

That claim is...[sm=lame.gif]

i found another cai i think that the kn63 defets the purpose cai because you are just sucking the hot air around the engine into the intake but this intake looks to be different because it pulls from almost on the ground what do u think would be better

I like the enclosed one but that's just me.

Check out mnboy's thread on "Cooler Air to the CAI"

I ran a DIY CAI for almost one year: 4†duct from lower radiator shroud to the bottom of the OEM box w/a K&N drop-in filter. I was always cleaning leafs out of the box

MapSon,

I am running that Volant CAI that you pictured and am very happy with it. Due to the design, I needed to do no other modifications for my 'cold air intake' to find cold air.

Zedd,

What did you need to do? My Volant down tube comes out facing the front of the car below and to the driver's side of the license plate beside the radiator. There is a nice gap we all have there and it fit the corner perfectly, even the contour of the openings matched. It was a bit of a pain to get it to line up and the included directions were crud, but this is one of the many times it sure helped to be a mechanical engineer.

Best Regards.

Didn't anyone look at the dyno graph on the page? It plainly said about 1 hp and 1 ft/lb gain to overall numbers. There were some places along the curve that provided a greater difference at a particular RPM, comparing stock to the CAI, but the overall gain is negligible. Typical for CAI system. The numbers are always quoted from the place with the largest difference.

After reading the high level information I cared not to read any further, my bad.

Personally I hate advertising gimmicks like that, it's big turn off. Even knowing that dyno information doesn't increase my interest level.
