Default Removeing cats on the 5.7

Has anyone removed there cats on the 5.7. and if so what is all needed for it to be done (i think you need some type of sensor simlater)

Im under the impression here that the stock cats are pritty restrictive considering dynaflow or max whichever sells high flow cats with claims of 10-15 WHP gains and tourq

I removed my resonatorswhich look like mufflers in the back. I was under the impression if you remove the cats it will not pass inspection.

Resonator removal makes the cabin drone nosie really loud due to the large trunk. Come right through!

I am starting to hate it. Looks like after market resonators are on going back on.

Ya if you remove them under normall sircumstances there would be a probleme with the inspections But i wouldnt have any issues with that.[sm=grinangel.gif]But i do know that itll throw a check engine light if you dont get a up side or is it down side sensor simulater?(any one know what im talking about? and if so where could i get one).
Im thinking that there could be gains of 20-30+ RWhp with Mopars long tube headers,No cats and a Corsa SRT-8 high flow exhaust[sm=gears.gif].And a real mean sound to boot. Ya and as far as removeing the rear resonaters [sm=badidea.gif]

You'll need a 15mm and socket & wrench and 7/8" open end wrench. There's two bolt/nuts where the CAT's bolt up and then there will be two more bolt/nuts one on each midpipe where it clamps to the big middle thingie. The replacement will have a fitting welded into it where the O2/Sensor goes back into.

Here's a pic, the Yeller circle is the CATs and the Green is the midpipes. The replacement High Flow CATs will be a single CAT/Midpipe piece.

It's not a hard job to replace em, on the outside it takes an hour.

<edit> GSM has the sims if you want them, don't know if they really work or not.

Mango You are the true blue Bob Vila of this forum! (Just dont start pushing craftsman tools in your threads, you know where that got good ol Bob). ha!

Question: I am reinstalling after market resonators since passengers have been complaining about the drone. My muffler guy says he can install them before the Flow master 40 mufflers( aka where suitcase once was) or behind toward the end of the straight pipe?

Where do you think I should place them to drown out the drone best? I guess the suit case and resonator combo was engineered pretty well. It sounds like the nosie is comeing from the trunk or in my back seat??

Any suggestions?

If you put them back where they came from it would probably give you the best result.

I think I would be better suited as Bob's helper Norm LOL Now if I could get a workshop like they have all the free tools those guys rake in, I'd be set
