Default SILLY QUESTION DONT LAUGH

I've been reading your posting on exhause. some one said that the suit case resanator is hollow on the daytona and baffled on the rt ROAD AND TRACK PACKAGE. If this is the case I would buy a daytona suit case from some oe. when I test drove a daytona it sounded different than my RT with the road and track package. You can not get any daytona parts from the staler. was thier today and all part numbers are not published. I was told it was a one shot deal. I live in new jersey by raceway park.

Just replace the suit case w/ aftermarket mufflers and the car will growl. I wouldnt touch the resonators makes the cabin really loud. I installed flowmaster 40s and cut out the resonators.

OK, you've got me confused. I thought we all decided it was the removal of the "suit case" that caused the "drone"? I thought the "hot" set up was to replace the resonators with Flows or some other muffler?

I am puttingback in aftermarket resonators becasue the drone is anoying on road trips. I am going to install them in the rear of the car where the old resonatos once were or close to it. It should fix the problem and still keep the car sounding better than stock.

I have read on other forums that people are doing just this and reporting that it will fix the drone.

I am getting it done next pay run so I will report back and what I installed. Cost $55 per side installed.

Please, refresh an old man's memory - what had you done to your exhaust? I have the full cat-back Magnaflow on mine.

Replaced the suit case with 2 flowmaster 40's and cut the pipes off including resonators and rplaced that with straight pipe and new chrome tips. Looks and sounds great but cant handle the drone on long trips.

Next week I am installing aftermarket resonators in the rear.

Boblom,

The large middle resonator "suitcase" is hollow in my Daytona model. What I mean, is I can place a lightbulb on one end and see it through the other end. The rear two mufflers are not that way -- you can't see any light.

I am running the suitcase resonator with hollow Magnaflow resonators (replacing the two rear mufflers) and the dreaded drone monster is beginning to raise it's head again -- I assume the packing in the Magnaflow mufflers are beginning to unpack. Now the whole $800 I spent on the Magnaflow system was for nothing. I should have left it stock. Live and learn they say...

I do see your point. The jury is still out on this one.

I will post after I add resonators. THink about this , right now my car sounds really mean, BUT the cabin noise sux.

Cost to cut resonators out and install 2 flowmaster 40's , straight pipe and huge stainless steel exhuast tips= $450.
Install 2 aftermarket resonators $110 toal cost $560 for a mean no drone sounded , good looking exhaust isnt that bad.

We need some sound bites - that would help people hear what no one else could.

Has any of you guy's sprayed or placed a sound blanket on the trunk bottom to get rid of the drone. I was watching american hot rod and boyd had his guys place some kind of mat that was sticky on one side to the metal of the body as a sound barrier. or spray undercoating?
