Default brakes and brake performance

any one have issues with the braking of the 2006. at 24k miles, i have had to have the rotors turned 2 times. the performance particularly at high speed is horrrendous, almost like old drum brakes--you ask yourself if you will really stop in time.

i don't know if this is related to the potential problem with the wheel bearings posted previously.

Some of the LXs have had bad rotors, if your under warranty have the replaced.

what is an LX, not familiar with that?

i will ask the dealership if they are willing. i had a 96 impala ss before this, and even with its supposedly lower tech, it never was far superior to the rt. it was not nearly as noisy in the front (related post on bearings). if i have friends in the car, it is absolutely embaressing that any car would make this much noise and brake this badly.

LX is the framework for the Dodge Charger, Chrysler 300 and Dodge Magnum. All three cars are virtually identical underneath the bodies.

It sounds like the car is under warranty,so the rotor(s) should be replaced without any issues.

I agree there's nothing worse than noisy breaks [&:]

My breaks feel pretty good so far, I just hit 7900 miles. However I do get an occasional squeek. I have always driven big cars so I may not be a good judge at the stoopping power of the Daytona R/T.

I was thinking about putting slotted roters on the car when I get new rims. Do you think I should do more?

I'm goning on 22,000 miles no issues w/breaks or tranny O ring leak. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

I have no plans on doing anything to the breaks at this time. When the pads wear down I'll replace w/ceramic ones.

Same her no brake or bearing problems - I`m just turning 10,000.
Iwas comming home one night and a lady stopped in the middle of I-59 in Houston and it was the hardest I ever hit any brakes and it stopped on a dime and didn`t hit her [sm=drlove.gif]. Ever since then I have been really aware of my brakes because of what I have heard.

So far so good

How fast are we talking about stopping from? In my driving, sometimes I have to make hard braking to drop the car from 115mph to 95mph. When doing this, the car vibrates alot. Perhaps this braking system is not designed for these speeds and this performance. Would any aftermarket components be better?

I have had similar issues on my 06 se. It sounds as thought he rotors are warped when I brake. It makes this wobble noise as I am braking. is this normal?

When you get vibrations at high speeds it is the anti-locks working. I thought it might be the rotors warped or something else wrong, I drive my car very hard and felt it many times but then slowed down and stomped on them and never had any brake fade or burning smell come from them. I live in an industrial area and have almost free run at night to race the streets and never had a brake issue...
