R/T vs SRT8
Which '69 Charger do you want? The pristine one... Mods reduce the resale of your car significantly, unless... you find just the right person, which is usually unlikely. Dealers automatically subtract money for any mod they see.
Most people on here make mods to their cars that are worth more than the first half dozen cars that owned!
I said before and I'll say it again, the Superchips adds a little bit of power, but what it does for the transmission is just fantasic! The Sport Shift program is awesome. I probably would have already sold my Daytona if it still had to use the stock shift logic, it really overlooked in development, or DCX purposely made it crappy.... A Dodge should not shift better than a Mercedes....

vnv727 - You make a good point. Not too many are going to want to look seriously at a modded car, unless it's in pristeen shape. However, I wonder what folks will think when looking at an SRT-8 also? Don't you think they would wonder if it had been driven hard, too? Really, though, if a person is going to do more than just a few simple bolt ons, they should be thinking of keeping the car a good long time, cause you can never, ever get your money out of any mods you do to it. There are some things you could do to an R/T or Daytona that are more subtle than NO2 or a super/turbo charger in that they would not be readily noticeable. Even a cam switch, heads, and headers, if done with a cam that would retain the MSD might not be that noticeable to a buyer looking to buy a modern muscle car. Sure, it might run like a scalded dog, but it still looks "stock" to the average "eye", and someone might just think it's one of those "rare" really good cars. Just some thoughts (got nothing else to do tonight

why?....seriously its going to be hard to make up the differnace with the extra half liter of displacement wouldnt it make more sense to buy the srt8 to start with...think about it, it will cost more to start but its hard to sell a modded car becuase people know its been driven hard so your re-sale value suffers.....in the end it might be cheaper to buy the srt8 thean to buy the rt and mod it up to srt8 levels....just my two cents........also why make a drag car out of it......if you want a drag car there are alot better platforms than a new dodge charger...okay i said my peace and i wont say much more cause im still a noob on this particular forum...later

definetly u make some valid points, but heres my perspective...ive been looking into a b5 audi s4 for a long time...nmow the s4 is the bi-turbo performace version of the a4.........id rather have a stock s4 than a modded a4 thats just as fast...why? cause modding an a4 to be as fast as an s4 really pushes the limits of the car, not to mentiion it still wont be as fats as a modded s4.....all im saying is there will be many more r/t charger for sale than srt-8s so the future buyer will most likely buy an unmodded r/t, over a built one and if he wanted an srt-8 to begin with thats what hes going to buy regardless if the r/t modded is as fast....just offering some insight

Agreed value will not hold in most cases if it's moded.
I got an R/T for MDS and the HP buildup potential. Personally I didn't wantpay the added gas guzzler tax andI wanted better MPG w/MDS... my choice was made.
OnceI add heads I'll be around stock SRT8 HP numbers. Yes of course that’s moded HP but that’s my choice, this car isn’t an investment for me it’s my toy.

Thats my point too. I don't buy cars as investments. very fer will ever pay off unless you just get lucky and find a little old lady who doesn' know what she has (then aren't you kinda inviting bad carma to "steal" it from her.) If I want an invesment I will stick to realestate or the stock market. I want the car I want. Which is a modded rt not a stock or modded srt8. I don't plan to mod it to sell it I plan to mod it to drive it. To hell with the resale value.
