Default R/T vs SRT8

What would it take to beat a stock SRT8 with an R/T? I'm thinking Headers with highflow cats and a cat back, CAI, Superchips tuner. I'm pretty sure that would make it close but don't think it would get it up front. What more would it take?

You are talking 75 hp there,I think you will need more than that myself.

Your right Marty, it's going to take a cam and heads also to keep up with a stock SRT8.

thats kinda my thought headers, exhaust, CAI, and chip. They are all advertised to be worth15-20+HP each plus you figure that is really a percentage increase so when you add them all together you should get a combined total of a little more thats 60-80HP. of coarse I've never done that so someone with some experiance chime in.

I have seen a close race betweena R/T and a SRT and the R/T just had simple modd's. It had exhaust, intake, headers, 180degree thermo and some custom tuning that cost him quite a few pennies but after all that his car dyno'd at 342HP. Also added some 265' tires still spun alittle, best time at the track on a very cool day with his temp guage reading only 112 was a 13.4 at 104mph. So the race was against his buddy in a beautifull red SRT-8 completly stock under 2k miles. The race was from 0-120mph, he told me the race was very close untill 100mph where the srt started to pull away. Also he changed the front to very small one only like 205's I believe he said to reduce some weight.

Here are "real world" numbers... you will see these types of gaines (approximately and being generous with the exhaust and CAI numbers) :

Headers - 15
Exhaust - 5
CAI - 5
SC - 5 (<edit> forgot to toss this in)

Once you start engine work it all changes, the cam and heads combo can put your HP well above a stock SRT8, this all depends on how aggressive you go.

My car has 330HP roughly 40 above stock, most added HP came from the headers and cam.

Mango --

Wow -- 5 hp for a superchip? That hardly seems worth the $400. I could roll the windows up and get that kinda boost. Or are you saying the combo of CAI, Catback and SC = 15 real world HP? Certainly nobody should believe that a CAI = 15 to 20 hp....

OR is the SC merely a glorified anti-torque management device? Perhaps I should reconsider buying one....

I just tossed in that number, I don't have any dyno data with and w/o the SC.

The SC does reduce torque management and shift point settings firm up. The octane settings advance timing. There's also data logging and tire size tweeking.

Not sure how much raw HP a SC adds but from my personal experience it doesn't match HP gained from header or a cam install.

I not willing to give up my SC.
