power steering
Well Im new to this forum , and not sure how it works I suppose I just post a topic or problem and prey i get an awncer or some help. Lets see where do i start, Well i am a classic truck guy. I prefer the simplisity of old hot rods to the complexity of electronic this and that. Any how my problem is I have a 1948 dodge truck Pilot House era and with the solid front end I have a rather tough to turn manual steering gear box. I am transplanting a more reliable v8 and would like the luxery of power steering but I'm haveing trouble finding a powersteering gearbox for it or one that can be made to fit with as little engineering as possible if any one could offer any help it could save me from that dreaded popeye look with huge forearms from this manual steering .. thank you in advance for your help

I think the colors are a interesting mixture... but the body looks rather solid, the grill is a fairly easy fix I'd think... I'm SO excited to watch this take shape... LOL!
Hope you don't mind me uploading and sharing 48Dodgeman... I couldn't resist...

Well Im flattered that you would show my truck on the web site, and by the interests of others. right now im working on suspension and steering. I have ordered a 4 link rear suspension kit with coil over shocks. Now i just got to wait for the parts to get here. I havent decided on wether im gonna put an Inependant Front Suspenision kit on but i think im leaning towards just rebuilding the original solid front end but adding power steering. The body is very solid. and the color is light surface rust. Im looking into getting a compressor and sandblasting setup . Hopefuly i will get it primed and get glass in it by winter , well i will talk to you guys and gals later i guess...

later. Peter

Wow... definately off to a great start... the rear suspension is a big job to start with... LOL! Who needs to wade in theshallow end...? Dive off the jumping board into the deep endand get into the hard stuff!! LOL!
Rebuilding the front end would be cool, I've never added Power Steering to anything...never even seen it done actually... LOL!Would that be hard to do? Because I think leaving it original leaves more of a heritage on the truck... Good old time and history. LOL!
