'86 Lancer ES with fuel problems
I am working on the car that is in the picture of my profile. I have a 1986 Dodge Lancer ES 2.5L with 150K. The issues started when I got a new battery and added a killswitch (have a power leak somewhere that drains battery). There is probably some old gas in the tank but I added another couple gallons recently. However it would NOT start and the air filter was saturated in gas when trying to start. I replaced fuel pressure regulator on top of the throttle body and replaced the air filter and that eliminated the spraying of the gas and car started normally. I have not been able to drive it however since every time I let it idle for 5 minutes it stalls out or when applying gas nothing happens and it still stalls. When attempting to turn it over again it's flooded. Any ideas about this? I am not sure if I want to go the timing chain/spark plug route or blame the fuel pump since it might be sending too much fuel causing the engine stalls. The fuel pump was replaced 15 years ago.
Pump likely is NOT the problem.
If you have a scanner, (which you should have one.... though, OBDI scanners are getting hard to find for any reasonable amount of money) see what the PCM thinks engine temp is.

Wouldn't hurt to put a pressure gauge on it to be sure it's not fuel pressure related. Any codes?

NONE of the auto parts stores around here do OBDI any more...... A lot of the shops don't either......
