How reliable are 2nd gen dakotas?
im lookin at a 2001 sport with 55k and a standard tranny...in pretty good shape and i need a reliable daily driver but i have heard sooo many bad things about dakotas and durangos that i am scared to buy...what would you guys say about your trucks? thanks
I've had no major problems with mine and it has 205,000kms. and it doesnt burn oil and the tranny shifts perfect. aslong as their maintained good, they will last forever.
where did you hear these rumors about these trucks?... ball joint problem?.. no big deal, covered under recall, pretty much maintain the truck on time and dont beat the snot out of it, it will last awhile, a guy i used to work with used to work at a tire shop, a 03 dakota with 250,000 miles rolled in, he got pics of it, sadly they were on his phone [:@]
I have no doubt that my truck will last forever. However there are little annoyances that kinda **** me off from to time. But at 60k miles the only problem I've had is the O2 sensor recently went out.
yea same here 195000 miles and the only problem ive had with it was misfiring, which was caused by a bad cap and rotor, and is gone since i switched out those specific parts.
I have HEARD that the second gen have junk A/C compressors and I have heard that all dodge trucks have the worst auto tranny reliability ever. I have an 06, its been perfect, and my friend has an 01 and its a bad-@$$ reliable truck. Turns out that the auto tranny in a dodge ram second gen or somthing did have the worst recorded track record rated in some mag but, I havnt come accross a bad dakota yet. My AC is ICE COLD. lol
