although after looking at the CUSW platform liberty replacement I can see how he's right. Look at the drastic diffence in ride height between the liberty test mule and the dart

I'd wager on 275-300 HP and torque 6 spd man FWD for $27,500 and/or 275-300 HP and torque 6 spd man AWD for $30,000.
I'd be partial to the AWD but only because I live in Michigan and it would be handy in the winter.
That and they do have 2 charger SRT's and 2 challenger SRT models, so why not 2 Darts.
They could "borrow" the probable AWD/4WD system from the next Jeep Liberty that is also going to be built on the Compact U.S. Wide (CUSW) platform/architecture the Dart is using from the Alfa Romeo Giulietta

Thank god. I was fortunate enough to have owned a Neon SRT4 for the last 6 years an if the Dart SRT were made AWD it would take away the whole point of the SRT4. Its suppost to be cheap speed simple as that. With an AWD system it would soar the price to 30K and that would ruin it/hurt sales. I bought the NSRT4 because it was the most affordable car out there with that kind of performance. Can you think of a single new car in 03 that was even on the same level of performance as the NSRT4 for 20K? If they release the DSRT4 with FWD, 300 reliable HP, and true posi for around 25K I will make my preorder with trade and cash down asap.
PS - I understand worries about snow as I live in Western NY but be honest I couldnt even fathom ruining my SRT old or new by driving it on salt/snow covered roads. Might as well spend the money saved without the AWD system and buy an old pickup or something. My backup Is a 02 Dakota 4x4.

You already have the awd system ready to go in the Journey/liberty. Slap a 6 speed manual transmission on it and you are done. It needs 17 x 8 inch wide tires, a traction control system that doesn't use the brakes, a fully defeatable traction control button, at least 250+ horsepower and a price of $25k = SOLD. No AWD = no sale.
I would be pretty stunned if the SRT packs all wheel drive. If there was a standard AWD variant, I think that there would be a better chance but I fully expect the Dart SRT4 to be FWD.

So, I have had the chance to see the vehicle in the images below driving around the Michigan area the other day but i didnt have my camera with me. i think that this vehicle is more likely to be the replacement for the town & country than the next liberty. this is very clearly an alfa romeo that is being repurposed for american use which leads me to believe that it will be an all new model. ive seen one sitting in traffic next to a grand cherokee and the exterior proportions are surprisingly similar...which is another reason i dont think that this will be the next liberty. what im wondering is if the vehicle shown in the images above wont share underpinnings with the liberty but this italian designed crossover will be the chrysler version while the liberty will look more like a jeep (obviously).

Omg!!!!! No awd! I was so hyped up to own the new srt dart with capabilities of going 0-60 to in 1.9 seconds. Then to ponder maby a stage 2 or 3. Im so bummed. I would have paid the additional g's! I thought the new srt dart was going to catapult this car on a whole different wave length and leave the competition in the dust literally! There will be no dust trails left with this fwd car in a rally scenario! It would be eating everyone's dust! I was hoping to represent dodge by spanking the evo's and sti's in a road or dirt course. Travis P's dart was all for naught!!!!! I guess dodge settled with going in a straight line when it comes to the dart srt-4. Boooooo!!!!!! U can't please them all, I suppose ill give up on my dreams of owning a srt dart and spend my money elsewhere.
