Default Compatability

I have a 1985 2.2 turbo daytona with a 5 speed tranny, I would like to know if I can put a transmission from a 1992 3.0 DOHC with a good five speed. The question is if the transmissions are the same or will I run into a snafu

i would say the trannys are gonna Be different being that the 2.2 is a 4 cylinder and the 3.0 is a v6.

What stock 3.0L has DOHC? The Mitsu motor used by dodge doesn't, it was SOHC (one cam per head).

Look at the transmissionID plates to see if they are the same trans, but they should be interchangable.
Search around on http://www.allpar.com/mopar/3.htmlfor more info on possible compatibility issues.

They made a 24valve V6....
Get a number off the trans and I will tell you if they are compatable.

That was only used in Mitsubishi vehicles, not dodge/chrysler products.

There are a few guys onmy otherforum that have swaped them out into their dodge vehicles.... A shadow to be exact. And, I will have to look into it, but I think they did, but I could be wrong. My thing is RT cars, not 3.0's

the 01-03 sebring and stratus coupe used the 24v 3.0 not to mention the 2.5 is a 3.0 derived engine. but if your trying to put a A543 (3.0 v6 man tranny) on to a 2.2 it will not work. you could probably use the A523 man trans which is for a 2.2 but i think you will need to swap out cables and shifter as well.
your trans has the pull up for reverse feature if i'm correct.

The 2.2/2.5L 4 cylinders were around before the 3.0L (atleast in Chrysler products), not to mention the 2.2 was a clean slate design not based on any previous engine.

The 3.0 in question is from 1992.... so it would have to be a mitsu for it to have DOHC, unless somebody swapped heads or engines.

acually the enine in question is a N/A 2.2L that he is asking if a A543 5speed trans from a 92 3.0L will bolt on to. Which of course it won't. but if he wants to upgrade to a A523 he can but he will have to use the A523 cables and shifter since the A523 does not use a reverse lockout.
