intercooling
They are completely seperate pieces, not one single piece. They are both mounted side by side up front in the opening for the radiator and use a shorter radiator to make room for the intercooler. Having the intercooler right next to the radiator is far from the best idea since the heat will transfer from the radiator to the intercooler causing the intercooler to be far less effective than what it should or could be. This is still better than Ford and Subaru, they mount their intercoolers on top of the engine itself and using hood scoops to try and cool the air going through the intercooler.
The year you have will determine if you need a TII or TIII setup. For example, to have it bolt up on my 92, I needed a TIII setup. An 89 with do fine with the very common TII setup.
