Default These goodyears suck

I was driving down rt 1 to get some paperwork today and I saw a van stuck in the median so I pulled over. The guy tried to cross the median to get to the southbound exit and got stuck(bad). Since I havent really had a chance to try the trucks pulling power out I told them I'd help them. I lock it in 4wd and cross the median without an issue. Back up to him hook up and get ready to pull. Put it in 4wd low and down to 1st. Go to take off and just sink, so I back up and try and get some momentum and just sink again. I unhook and go to adjust my position and almost get stuck! I literally was rocking back and forth in these ruts trying to get out, not to mention flinging mud all over my 2 week old supposed street truck. This time i try and get my driverside wheels on the pavement. Go to pull him and and slide right off the road into the same ruts.

By this time a state trooper pulls over to try and help out. He calls another one to come help block the highway. While we're waiting I hook up a second chain so I can get completely on the highway. I was bsing with the passenger and come to find out the driver is in a wheelchair so he cant get out and they had some kids with them, so I did my good deed for the day.

The second cop arrives and completely shuts down rt 1 (2 lane each way interstate, a busy one at that). I get in position on the highway, and start to pull. There was a little tire spin but the van came right out. Get all packed up, the guy gives me 20 bucks and we're on our way.

Cliff Notes-
Helped get people unstuck
Goodyears suck *** in the mud
Made 20 bucks/ did good deed

Glad you helped out someone in need. Other than a true off road/mud tire, would a different tire have made a big difference? If the van was pretty well stuck, being on payment to pull may have been the only way to get it unstucked. Again, your a good person for helping.

Cooper Zeon LTZs are a good compromise between on-road highway and off-road tire. Check my pictures in other threads.

Yup, the stock Goodyears are worthless for all but pavement use. You could get stuck on wet grass with those Goodyears, so don't pull your truck onto your yard to wash it.

Good job pulling out the other motorist by the way.

So you are going to drop it for the summer and put it back to stock height for the winter?

I have driven in snow on these Goodyears and had no problems. Mud for tires is a whole different animal than snow.

I had Goodyears on the '04 Ram 1500 that I had before my '09. I had to replace two of the tires because the belts had slid to the sidewall. Replaced with two Michelin LTX (I think). I ended up keeping the Michelins for the new truck when the crap Goodyears wear-out. I had Goodyears on the two Dakotas that I owned before my '04. I did not have a good experience with these either.

To go along with what you are saying, here are the Tirerack.com reviews. They are so-so.
