Default Switched from Fords to Dodge

How many folks out there jumped from a Ford p/u to a Dodge because of the redo for 2009? Not a scientific study by no means. Just want to see if I am the only one

I had a 2004, 2005 and then a 2007 Ram1500 and then for 2008 I thought I would try something different so I bought a Ford F150 FX2 Sport and loved the truck until the 2009 Ram sports came out. I know Ford is known for towing but thats something I never did with any of my trucks and they all had a tow package on them. Here's a pic of my Ford then my new Ram.

My last pickup was a 2002 F150 extended cab XLT - but I did have a car between the F150 and the Ram.

I went out with every intention of buying another Ford, but my reasons for buying the Ram had more to do with Ford than the redesign on the Ram.

Every Ford XLT I found had the space alien chrome package on it, I'm sure that someone must like that look but to me it made them look cheap and crappy to have chrome(plastic) rings around everything and big goofy chrome rims. On top of that they charged around 2K for this ugliness.

My last truck was a 2002 Ford F150 King Ranch. My reasons for the switch was the changes made to the 2009 RAM and that Ford was not changed much since my KR.
Love the Hemi!

I actually was on my way to close on a deal for a F 150. But after looking at the truck I changed my mind, reason....1)no gas cap, I could imagine off-roading and the filler neck filling up with dirt and debris and the salesman said it would never happen. 2) that ugly tailgate with the vertical lines, 3)the rear lights are larger on the side than viewing from the back. The designer for the 09 Ford will hang for this. Glad I got the Dodge.

Back in 2004, I passed over a 2004 Ram Sport and went with the redesigned F150 at that time, 2004 F150 FX4. The interior with the console shift and bucket seats made me not look back at the Ram at that time. Have a buddy that is a gm at our local Ford dealer so I could always get x-plan pricing and would just wait for the rebates and 0%-1.9% financing deals trough Ford credit. 2005, had a Lariat, then 2006 back to the FX4. All 4x4 with the 5.4L and 3.73 rear. I did have quite a few mechanical service issues with two of the F150's though, and the 06 kept having fuel injectors stick, 3 separate times before I traded it. All were custom dyno tuned at Troyer Performance and been to many dyno days, meet a lot of good people doing this.

Feb of 2009, the redesigned Ram won me over, along with the +45 hp bump from the stock 5.7L and the 3.92 gear setup. This hemi has fantastic stock midrange pull, something Ford has yet to offer. New Holland Auto sells Ford, Dodge and Toyota. Got to see the redesigned F150 and Ram side by side along with a 2008 Tundra. Drove them all. Bought the Ram in Feb, and 8 months later, still glad I did. It's my daily driver, do 75 miles round trip daily to work. Only thing I miss is the custom tuners that used to post on the F150 forum and all the choices we had.

My 09 Ram was in for some paint work so I had a 2010 F-150 as a loaner and I can honestly say I am so glad I bought a Dodge, the Fords ride was not as good, the interior looked cheap and I didn't get anyone asking me about the Ford like I do almost daily about the Ram.

I had a 2001 F150 Lariat 4x4 Supercrew for 7 years... then a 2008 Infiniti G37 for 1.5 years ... and now a 2009 Laramie for 6 months. When I decided to get into a truck again, I looked at the Ford but the styling and lack of power turned me off. The power, price, and styling of the Dodge are what convinced me to buy it. Like another poster, I had a loaner 2009 F150 for a week while my truck got repaired from being rear-ended and boy did I miss my truck for that week! Even if Ford improves their powerplants, their styling does not appeal to me. The view out the windshield of the F150 pales in comparison to that of the RAM.

I was a loyal Ford guy and was planning on upgradding my 150 to a 250 because I was not a fan of the 09 F150. I actually test drove 150, 250, and then Tundra had no real interest in the Dodge. A friend then bought a 09 Quadcab and he was giving me a ride 10 min into the ride loved the truck. Bought my 09 Crew a week later love it so far and love the Lifetime Powertrain and the Lifetime Wrap.

I had a 2004 Sport Trac and was ready to upgrade to a F150, but ended up loving the looks, ride and power of the new Rams more.
