Default 2010 1500, Major Issues with Snow, Help!!!

We have a 2010 Ram 1500 Sport 4x4 Crew Cab. We love the truck and it is my wifes primary vehicle. First snow for the season yesterday. I was stranded three times. Wet snow is thrown under the vehicle and lodges around the transmission. The problem is it "jams" the shift linkage causing the vehicle to not go into Park. Forced it in and turned motor off. Came back and vehicle would not start. Seems the shifter was between Park and Reverse so the motor would not turn over. To make it worse, I could not shift to Neutral. Called for a tow and during the wait, crawled under the truck and cleaned the area out. Now I am completely soaked and bleeding, no gloves on hand and seems to be a lot of sharp metal unter there. Cancelled tow and drove 4-5 blocks home. Happened again. Cleaned out the second time and headed for the dealer. Arrived at dealer and couldn't move shifter into Reverse or Park. Dealer doesn't have a fix, Dodge engineer is calling them on Monday. Dealer cleaned out all of the snow load, had to be 500 pounds packed in there. OEM skid plate and transfer plate doesn't protect the transmission. Can't find an aftermarket fix.

Wet snow makes this vehicle "worthless" to me. I can't go under the truck and clean out snow everytime I want to stop and start. If the weather gets colder that snow will be hard a rock and impossible to remove. Has this happened to anyone else and what are you doing about it??? Thanks

Don't know if it makes any difference, but have you got a floor shift or column shift?

Do you have the lined fenders? I ask because while we haven't had snow down here yet, we have had rain and mud and I have not seen any kind of build up showing around the transmission or transfer case when it was on the lift the other day getting the oil changed.

At any rate, it looks like this ought to be a fun winter if this starts happening on my Ram as well.

The originators of both of the slush build up posts have "Sport" Ram's. I wonder if the front bumper facia (or air dam) would make that much of a difference?

Fenders are lined and good point regarding the Sport Package. I don't think that could be an issue since it appears that the tires are throwing the snow under. We had about 6 inches on the ground when it first happened, so the bottom was not dragging.

I wonder if Dodge changed the shifter linkage at the transmission. The "plate" which attaches to the cable is what causes the jam. But if the snow wasn't getting up there it wouldn't be an issue. At the dealer, we cleaned snow off the top of the transmission housing. I have never seen anything like this before. And being a ND native I have been through a lot of snow.

Which dealer did you go to? I was doing a good bit of driving yesterday, but thankfully no issues. I have a Big Horn with a column shifter if it matters, which it shouldn't.

Roseville Dodge. They really couldn't do much, I took it in so that they could see the compaction. They cleaned all of the snow out and contacted Chrysler. I am hoping somebody can come up with a simple solution.
