Default annoying noise at highway speed

Hi

I have a noise at above 80km/h, it sounds like something is loose, its a rattle or maybe something caught on the underneath flapping in the wind, I have checked the obvious this like the mirror, but cannot find anything loose, I have even reached out and folded the mirror in but the noise stays the same.

Has anyone else had this problem or have any sugestions where to look.

Phil

I know you said it sounds like it is outside, but the passenger side seat belt if not hanging properly will give you that type of noise, a tapping noise at higher speed or going over rougher roads. It taps against the pillar.

I had a leaf wedge between the cab and bed behind the driver's door and it made a bad noise. Somehow the leaf was stuck good enough to not blow away but still loose enough to flap like crazy.

Do you have a jack-in-the-box head on your antenna by any chance?

A 3" piece of masking tape in just the right spot and I could drive you to insanity.

Check the front wheel well liners, in high speed/windy situations they would bend back into the tire and make that kind of noise on my truck.

Thanks for the replies, nope nothing on the antenna. I was looking again and saw leafs behind the cab so cleaned them out but the noise is still there, I also noticed that maybe the rubber around the windshield could be causing it, has anyone had any trouble like this when the temp is cold because I think when it got colder here is when the noise started. Also I will have another look at the wheel well liners

I've heard the noise for the past two winters... it goes away in teh summer and i forget to look for it. I've had my windshield replaced, with an updated seal, changed my wipers, taken off wheel well liners (only for a day) to try and find the noise. I gave up and turned up the radio ... It almost sounds like someone typing on a telegraph, a clicking sound, definitely hard to explain, but I bet it's the same. STRANGE!

Yes that sounds like the noise, I was thinking maybe it is something inside the mirror

I have what sounds like the same noise that just started with the cooler temps. Mines definitely the seal on the windshield right above the mirror. I can push on the windshield and the noise changes. Its only when I'm going 65 to 70 mph and the windows are all rolled up though. When I crack a window it goes away. And its really loud!
