Default Laptop Battery

Just bought a new toshiba laptop from best buy and wanted to know how long to charge the battery for. I usually charge batteries for like my cell phone for an entire day. Should I do that again?

I leave mine pluged in unless I take it somewhere. The bats dont last that long so I don't use it much when its running on them. Im gonna get a extended life one so I can actually use it the way it's ment to be..

It should not take more than a couple hours to charge a laptop battery. There is usually a battery indicator near your clock that has the charge level of the battery.

but the first time you charge something ure supposed to let it charge extra long so it will keep a longer charge just like a cell phone. My problem is the book doesn't say how long to charge it.

I think about 5 hours. Is yours the Satellite 105 if so when the bat light is blue your good for maybe 2 hours. If you reset your power settings it will be less, like mine 50 minutes.

The charge the battery to full, then run it emtpy and recharge thing went out the door when they started putting Lithium Ionbatteries in laptops.

With that said your life expectancy of your laptop battery will still blow. Figure 2 years then you will see a steady decrease in the run time on the battery.

Here is some battery info.

Wow...WinME. You might as well use 98, it's a lot more stable than ME and is pretty similar otherwise. I'm betting your new laptop is 64 bit, so ME might run a bit funky....try XP...you can make it look like ME and it'll run a lot better (though not perfect) on the 64 bit machine.
