printer crapped out...
no longer printing from the Cyan ink jet... HP officejet 7110 all in one printer.
what i've done so far...
1) ran thru the cleaning process via the s/w utility
2) removed the ink tank to verify ink supply
3) cleaned bottom of ink tank to verify flow into the head
4) pulled head off and cleaned both contacts on the printer side & the head side
5) used a wet paper towel to clean the head nossels (put the head on the wet paper towel to allow the ink to bleed down onto it)
6) went thru the cleaning utility once again to ensure head was "re-primed"
with all this done, it looks to me like the head is dead, anyone have experience with this problem? when I print the test page, I get the blue & yellow bars fine but not the cyan.
any suggestions?
TIA!!!

RE: printer crapped out...
Officejet/Inkjet printers are called toss-away printers for a reason. You buy one for $59.99 and the ink cartridge cost $35.99.....for another $15 you have a brand new printer.
My advice is to just toss it. The cost of the parts to replace the bad ones exceeds the printer's cost itself.
*edit*
I just realized your's was an all-in-one, so if it's still under warranty, I'd check it out. Otherwise, I'd consider calling HP and asking about the part cost. I still think you are probably going to be better off purchasing a new printer however.

RE: printer crapped out...
that has been my feeling on printers in general... however this one being an all in one is serving alot of functions for me... the biggest being the ADF (auto doc feeder) and having the ability to do 8x14's which is pretty important. the research i did points to the print head... $35~40 bux. A new all-in-one that will work (cannon) is $300.
I had a problem with my motorola v551 where you could no longer hear the person on the other end... I ended up finding a forum that had a fix for it. took me 15 minutes start to finish and it's still working great. I was hoping someone here may have had a similar problem with their HP and had a fix for it...
BTW, thanks for the input..

I have given up on inkjets, I do not use them enough and they dry up. Like you one color would stop, followed by another, ect. I bought a laser and am extremly happy. Samsung color CLP-300. It is faster, great quality and... Will last much longer. Paid $250 after rebate.
