intrepid 2000 starting problem
ok i will on monday m8... ok if i have a defective serprentine belt what probles will i have other then then the noise ... i can smell rubber burn can this might be a belt problem .. they told i would have electrical problems cuse a bad belt will slip >>?????
By "electrical problems", they mean a charging issue, not sensors failing. That would be a true statement. I think you may have misunderstood them. A sliping belt will not cause a map sensor to fail etc.
Check the tension of the belt and like i said before the charging system functionality. If you smell burning rubber you may have a bad bearing in one of the components on the belt (eg altenator, power steering, tensioner), that is causing it to bind up and the belt is slipping over it. That will cause noise, burning and eventually belt failure. To test, remove the belt and inspect all pullyes.
