Default 3.6L VVT Journey Miss Fires Cyl 1,3 & 5

I recently noticed some rough idle at times with my Journey, then into a short drive at 50mph the engine started missing seriously and the check engine was light flashing on/off. I limped home and the OBD scan showed cylinders 1,3 & 5 misfires and crankshaft to CAM misalignment. HELP!!!!

How many miles on it? Could be any number of things, stretched chains, failing sensor, etc.

Default Same issue

I had the same issue but to cylinders 3 and 4. It was the coil packs that needs to be replaced so I had all 6 replaced. Car runs smooth again

To make a long story shorter, I replaced my coils finding a burnt one in the process and have had no problems since. The 1st shop I took it to said I needed a new engine based only on the OBD scan that the crankshaft & camshaft were misaligned, but the engine was running fine with no engine noise……

Thanks for your reply!

I wouldn't rule out plugs. My Durango got drivers side coil packs (one failed, replaced all 3) and all 6 plugs at 85-90k. Just this last winter has random misfire again at 145k, replaced other 3 coils since they hadn't been. Fixed it for a week maybe, issue returned. (Had previously serviced rockers due to roller failure, worried I messed up the cams). Decided to pull plugs, my plugs with 50k on them had already burned out to .085"+, new plugs and good to go, hopefully got better ones this time
