launching the magnum
I got some info that all the Hemi cars have some info in their ECM that limits power output for about the first 3000 miles. As you build up miles under that like every 1000 miles, you get a little more kick. I was told this was to prevent the Hemi getting a bad rap for people like us too eager to hot rod them too soon. Ive got 4000 miles now.
I dont know if any of it was true, but I have noted a pretty substantial seat of the pants feel from the time it was new delivered with 7 miles. May just be engine break in too. It would barely chirp tires when I got it. Now I can lay rubber down at slightest whim. I can outrun my 88 vette convertible with 70,000 miles.
I found out too, put the shifter in 1st and leave it there when you want to show off. It will change just short of max rpm thru each gear in turn by itself. I have no problem getting 2nd gear rubber doing that. Shift control module wont let it exceed redline, always bumps it to the next gear if its about to.
