launching the magnum
the magnum has the first automatic tranny i have ever owned. whats the best way to launch this bad boy? it seems flooring it from idle results in a slow pick up. any opinions?
my last car was an eclipse gs-t. i used to bring the rpms to about 3000 and pop the clutch, all the while slowly easing the the throttle until the tires hooked up then slammed the gas.

I had a 2000 ecplise GT auto. It was easy, hit the brake and hold it, floor the gas. Car would limit the rpm's to 2000 rpm, then just release brake
not enough power to get more than a little squeel out of the tires
this one, haven't done it yet

When I mash the pedal on my RT with the ESP off the tires spin and the car gets sideways just a little bit. That's with NO brake torque action at all. I have to be careful NOT to spin the tires, so I leave the ESP unless I WANT to do a burn-out. I have talked to others with RT Magnums that act much the same and others who can barely get a chirp. What gives?
Mine did this from day one. It HAS gotten even more responsive, but it was smoking the tires from the start. With the ESP on all I get is a little, baby "chirp" and this IS something the RT didn't do when brand new. I now have 4700 miles on it and loving every inch!
My RT would spin the tires just a bit with ESP on when new, with ESP off, it spins tires for at least 5-6 feet. Twin strips of rubber, no fish tailing. I usually keep the gas tank full.
Now have over 2300 miles and it is running better, maybe the Flowmasters help a bit.
Still waiting for my 360 Air Intake to arrive, a sore subject with me.
