Well thanks for all the positive feedback. NOT! How hard is it to install a stereo, honestly? If a unit is installed and working for a month and the problem exhists both prior to the install and resurfaces after the install (a month later) there is another issue OTHER than the radio. When you put weight on my passengers seat the warning light goes out. You take the weight out of the seat and it comes right back on. When you start the car the light comes on, goes out, and then you get the warning tone as the light comes back on. It is either a problem with the ground on the weight sensor, a short in the wiring to that sensor, a faulty sensor, or a bus malfunction with the computer. My local dealer has replace the clog spring and the connectors for the steering column and that appeared to fix it. But this is a different problem with the same system.
Try and put a radio in any 98 and up Lexus or corvette a plain old Ford taurus with digital ac controls any Bose radio and alot of other cars. You will find it is not so "easy" alot of do it yourself types think because you get an easy to install car that every car must be so easy that is not the case I do this for a living (25 years) and the do it yourselfers who think it is "just hooking up a couple of wires " are very wrong usually the ones who make those statements are "computer geeks " building a computer is more of a no brainer than installing a radio, neither one is rocket science but the level of experience of the person doing the work makes all the difference. When You make a statement like: "How hard is it to install a stereo, honestly?" Evidently with the problems you have had with yours it is pretty damn hard! and make sure when you have your Pioneer "sponsored" equipment proffesionally installed you make that same remark to the gentlemen doing the work! Don't start believing your own bull****![:@]

I was down at a local stereo place last week getting a remote starter for my wife's car. They were doing a stereo install on a tahoe and it was amazing to me the level of disassembly of the interior. I can see panel removal to install speakers, but they had most of the dash out as well. Wires everywhere! The stock RT stereo will already be the best I have ever owned and I'm glad that I don't yearn for more. Sorry to hear about anyone having trouble with their car and it's too bad that Brians problems have been muddied up by the fact that he tried to improve his SXT.

Brian, since it's so easy to install audio stuff, then why are you having a hard time? The SXT is one of the easiest cars I've seen in a while, and I have been doing installs for years.
I quote,
"Coupled with the fact that I have $4000 in audio equipment in the car and I still can't get rid of that high pitch humming noise."
Sounds like you, Oh Great One, screwed something up!

Earcandy, that was awesome! Amen Brother.
Did you slove the little black box problem yet?

I think the real issue here is...he hasn't read his owners manual.

There are weight sensors built into the seats that detect over and under 40 lbs.

Hey Brian---your system is working exactly like it is supposed to. No wonder you ar efrusterated, you have the dealer looking for a problem that doesn't exsist. I think you go drink a big giant cup of oooops.

And people wonder why techs treat the public like they are idiots---this is what we deal with everyday. Guys coming in jumping up and down that their car is broken when it is working as it was designed to. That black vinyl covered packet-it's the owners manual. The binding on that book should be thoughly worn out before you ever step foot in a service dept complaining something is broken.

How hard is it to install stereos-aren't you the guy who hacked into the CAN bus during the installation?

I don't know what Brain's problem is (gee- is that a PUN??). I have installed all my gear myself, including a new Viper alarm system w/ two way paging, and have had no problems with whine, noise, etc. I've even had my car back to the dealer for service and when hooked up to the computer, the radio was, of course, not recognized since it was an after market unit.

As far as the airbag problem:
1) Does the light stay on when the seat is empty?
2) Does the light go off when someone is in the seat?

Should read:
1)Does the light stay on when the seat is empty?
2)does the light go off when someone is in the seat AND OVER 40 LBS, BUT NOT IN A CAR SEAT?
3)Does the light stay on when a car seat is cinched into place?

BTW, the seat re-calibrates itself every night.

So if I understand your wisdom. LOL If the service engine light comes on I should read the manual for it to tell me to take it in for service. Once again a perfect example of the dealership tech trying to get out of doing their job even with all their exotic test and scannig equipment. On one hand they tell us that we are too stupid to even check the transmission fluid ourselves and on the other we need to exhaust every other avenue before we step foot into their temple. Fantastic display of why we get so completely frustreted with their attitude.

No (insert favorite vulgarity here), what I am saying is pull your head out and understand how your car is supposed to work before you complain it is broke. You are supposed to sit down and read that entire manual front to back as soon as you get home since it contains all the safety information about how your new car works, of course most everybody knows everything so that’s a waste of time. You all like to complain about the dealer and their outrageous pricing. Where do you think we have to make up the money for time lost checking out cars that do not have problems, that right, from the next customer.

I think that if Brain had gone in and told the service writer exactly what was going on (or read his owners manual) then this car would never had made it to a tech stall. I'm sure he went in hollering about the piece of junk light keeps going on and off, forgetting to tell the SW about it's only happening as the load in the seat changes.

sorry, edit for spelling
