Default Fuel pump problems?

Has anybody had any problems with this? My car idels really rough sometimes when I'm stopped, doesn't do it when I'm driving. I took it in and they didn't check it as i asked. All they said was- it couldn't be the pump because there is not enough miles on it. Which I hear from people that they don't want to check it because it's a big job. All they did was run it on that machine. My dad had to take their dodge truck in 3 times before they checked the pump, and my dad was right, it was the pump. Has anybody had this problem?

I too have'nt heard of any fuel pump problems on the Magnum. I am no expert but I would think that if you were having a fuel pump problem then you would likely have the symtom whether you are idling or moving.

When Im at a stop it chokes up-heavy idle-and acts like it's going to die. I have had other problems with other cars doing the same thing, and it always has been the fuel pump. When I told the mechanic to check it, they didnt. They just put it on the machine. I drive a lot of long distance and I cant have it die on me in the middle of know where.

I took it to the mechanic at the dealership and of course my car did not act up, and they said they couldnt find anything. So I'm picking it up later. This is the same problem my father had, he had to take his in 3 times, until the ideling was happening all the time so the mechanic realizd what was happening. If my car breaks down on me, I'm going to come unglued in that dealership!

Capnhook77,
I have not heard of any Fuel Pump problems either. They better workgood, as they are located inside the Gas Tank! I had a 1988 Dodge Dakota 4 x 4 that had the Fuel Pump go out at 500 Miles. So, for the Dealer to tell you that there isn't enough Miles on your car for the Pump to go bad, they are full of that Hot Brown Stuff... However, in defense of the Dealer, if you stroll in there with a Good Running car and no video, tape or other proof of what your car is doing wrong, well, you have a fine car... Until it breaks in the middle of B.F.E. and leaves you stranded, then it is broke! I had Computer Wiring Harness issues with my Magnum at Mile 1,000. Took it in 3 or 4 times until it acted up for the Dealer. Best one was when it happened on a Saturday. It didn't upshift, so I took it to the Dealer to show them. All the way there it didn't upshift. But when I got to the Dealer and turned off the Car so I could go in and get the Sales Manager, the computer reset. I go in and tear up the Sales guy. We go out and there is nothing wrong... I am like "I just did it, come on let's go for a drive and I'll show you" We get in and I have him drive. This guy drives my Magnum around Long Beach that would have make the Toyota Grand Prix look like a Tricycle Race. "Nope, drives good, just like a Hemi should!" It was within a week that it stopped being an intermittant problem and became a permanant one. 45 Days later I got my car back... No regrets. I love this car! The only thing I want to change is the front wheels. I want them to come off the ground off the line!!!

Well today my malfunction indicator came on, I just picked up my car last week and now a light comes on. The dealership won't even give me a ride home, so I have to taxi it. And my book says that the light means having problems with the fuel, just like I told them the other 3 times I brought it in. I feel like I'm getting screwed over here, I almost want to take it to a normal mechanic.

Capnhook77,
Dude, where do you live? Sounds like the Dealer you are going to is the smaller of my two heads... They should drive you home, like up to 20 miles, just for an Oil Change, let alone warranty work. I would take it to another Dealer. Let us know how it goes...

Why the hell did it take 45 days to get your car back ????????? I'm starting to get worried here about Dodge service.

The dealership said the light that came on was because of a 02 censor fuse, it has to do with the exhaust and it can make
the car idel heavy. We'll see. Hopefully that fixed it. And the dealership I go to is smaller than the one I bought it at. But that dealership is 2hrs away.
