DOOR OPEN WHILE DRIVING!!!
Hi All,
I rented an "SE" today and my brother said "Huh.....first car I ever saw to do this while driving" While the doors were locked and we were driving he was goofing around and open the passanger door wide open! (not really wide open but he opened it enough for a full sized duffle bag or child to fall out) NOW this would be a recall issue don't you agree? Anyone else notice this, go try it carefully and see. I tried on the drivers door too and it happened!!!!!!!![/size]

I don'tknow why he was goofing around he is kinda slow...nbut the Driver and Passanger doors are the ones that opened. I have never known a car to have the ability to open the doors while they are locked and WHILE you are driving!
Driver's side.. my silverado, eclipse, and aerostar all did this... passenger, no I had to unlock. In fact on my sxt you have to unlock the door before the passenger can open his door...

This is why the best place for kids (or the mentally retarded) is in the back with the child locks turned on so that the doors can only be opened from the outside.
These are called panic locks, they are for a good reason. If something tragic happens, you won't be fumbling around trying to unlock the door. Anybody dumd enough to "play" with door release mechanisms driving down the road deserves whatever happens to them (I beleive it has something to do with Darwins theroy of natural selection).

My 2000 Grand Cherokee and the 2003 Mustang Cobra I use to have before the RT also have the ability to open the front doors without manually or electrically unlocking the door first. I rather have it this way. Honda's and Toyota's are a pain because you have to unlock the door first before the door will open.
