Magnum problems
First off I am letting everyone know that I love my Magnum, but I don't like what has happened to mine in the 7 months and 5600 miles I have had it. I have had it in the shop 5 times for right hand pull and 9 degrees is as close as they can get it to align. It is 95% fixed for this. I have had tire and wheel balance problems, leak around the tail lamp to the inside, transmission fluid leak that took 16 days to fix, because of national backorder parts, and now a real killer, a leak around the inner axle seal, where the seal presses into the rear end case, and are awiating parts to repair it. They will have to just about pull the whole rearend to repair it. Has anyone else had this much trouble? I have sent the certified letter required for the Lemon Law here in my state. I am awaiting the answer from the DC Rep. after having met with him on 12/20/04. and that was before the rearend leak. I am ready to let them have this one back and order me a new one even after all this trouble, I still want a Magnum. I just want a Magnum without all the problems.
WOW that sucks Magnesmag! Hope the lemon law comes thru for ya on that one so you can start fresh. I can't say I've had probs like that, but I've only had my Mag for a few weeks now. I have noticed a slight pull to the right and considered taking it in for re-alignment (I've seen a lot of posts regarding the RH pull), but I was traveling on a road recently that had no crown and the car drove straight as an arrow. I think these Mags just like to follow the road slopes a bit too easily. Still, it doesn't pull enough to bother yet so I'll wait and see how it goes.
Good luck!
Good luck!
That sounds aweful extensive. I hope the Lemom Law pulls through to your Magnum.

Were these leaks so noticeable that you saw them dripping on your floor or driveway or did you go looking for them under the car? Only reason I ask is so I can monitor mine a bit closer. I haven't seen any problems like that with mine. But on the other hand, I haven't look too closely either.
I did have the alignment issue. You know that all the early cars 300's and Mags had this problem? I took mine in for the fix they came up with where they replace a part that changes the castor/camber (??one of those??). It corrected mine significantly and doesn't take a lot of effort to keep it on the road anymore.
My born-on date is 5/04. What is the date on your car?
Good luck to you. They really are wonderful cars and a tons of fun to drive.

The transmission leak was a puddle 18" in dia. that I cleaned up off the garage floor twice before it was taken to the dealer on a roll back. the rearend leak was again a puddle 2" in dia that I keep cleaning up off the garage floor. The water leak by the tail light was causing fogging of all the windows inside the car and I found water standing in the spare tire wheel well. The right hand pull and tire vibration is with factory tires and wheels. I have not changed any thing from OE about the car because of all the problems. The new axle seals came in 12/30 and I will be taking the Magnum back to the dealer on 01/03 to be repaired for the leak. All of these problems are on top of the car being recalled 4 times. The recalls were retorque shoulder belt bolts, improper info tag under hood, improper coolant mix, and radiator brackets. In the 7 mo. I have had the car the dealer has had it 1 1/2 mo. for repair. The build date on this car was 5/12.
All vehicles have recalls, and those don't count as "lemon law" days. The right drift issue is not a vehicle defect but that it was built with so much steering sensitivity that the crappy roads we all drive on cause a drift issue, a lot of cars with tuned suspension have drift issues. A pull is when the vehicle makes a right turn right away after removing your hands from the wheel…if it takes an 1/8 mile to change lanes that is called normal road crown drift, no repair.
I am guessing the trans leak was a couple of seals for the valve body....not real common but have seen a few leak.
Have not seen or heard of any diff concerns yet. I'll be sure to look out for them though.
No water leaks either. Sounds like you just had a few "flukes", Usually they show up right away so you are probably good to go now.
The buy back process is not as easy as it sounds, due to the consumers now being so intolerant of vehicle defects the arbitration process has been removed and you now are required to obtain a lawyer and to it the hard way. My suggestion is to make sure that is what you want to do, a few leaks hardly justifies a buy back.
