Windshield - rain sensing?
I recently needed to have my windshield replaced. The glass shop asked me if the glass was rain sensing or not. Makes sense that the 300C and Magnum share this glass. So this got my wheels turning.....
Given that the electronics group equiped Magnum can be given automatic head light by replacing the switch.... could the same group be used to install a rain sensing glass and the wiper stalk, giving the Magnum the same feature availble on the 300C?
I know there are few folks who keep a service manual in the "library." Any one care to check a wire diagram or two?

hmmm. Sure hope it can differentiate rain strikes from zillions of small bug strikes. Out around Los Banos on Hwy 152 on a warm evening you'd swear it was raining, and if you hit the wipers... DOH!
But here's a related question: My radar detector notes that certain windshields, notably Porsche ones, have a safety coating on them that prevents the windshield from fragmenting in an accident... and that this coating when mixed with the detector's suction cups = bad news for windshield and its clarity.
Does the Magnum have that? If my ordered hemi wasn't stuck in forever-BX-land I would know myself.

Are you sure that is all? Most options in the LX platform are set at end of line programming. For instance, if you add fog lamps and hook them up the way the instructions tell you.....they will not work. The FCM (cabin node) needs to know every single option the car has in order for it all to work properly. Some things the dealer can turn on, others only the factory can (you don't want to know how much it costs to send a tech and his equipment from Detroit to program your car).

Auto windshield wipers - don't think anybody has tried that one yet. A great start would be to install the windshield with the sensor in it

That's what I was thinking, but didn't want to mess with the insurance claim to get something other than what I started with. Not without knowing I could add a switch and make it work. Know what I mean?
So now it has the regular glass in it. Just in time too, I almost had to clean the old one!
