Default RT orders

Hello again to all Magnum RT owners and those awaiting delivery.

I would still like comments on your experiences in ordering and waiting on your Magnum RT’s. There seems to be a big difference in the time it takes between placing an order and getting delivery of these cars, depending on your location, or maybe just the dealer.

I placed my order Dec 6, 2004, and ordered a “plain Jane” without any special options.
I ordered a Magnesium Pearl color and have heard since, that this color is no longer available. My dealer has told me nothing on the status of my order. Is there a way of going around the dealer and getting info from the factory?

Has anyone taken some videos with sound of their RT’s? I saw the one posted on a SXT, but not too impressed. (maybe just the quality of the video).

I tried to change my log-in name, and the program wouldn't let me do it. Any ideas?

Looking forward to any response.

Maybe I missed something, or am one lucky guy...
After having read several postings, it is appears that there is a pretty heavy backlog on delivery.

Which is odd, when we bought our R/T back in august, the dealership had more than one of each color, all loaded, although heated seats in Houston are kinda extreme, nav systems, the works.

In fact, all the dealerships we checked in Houston seemed to have a lot of the 6clys, and most had at least one each color of the loaded R/Ts, finding one without all the bells and whistles was the problem.

I found the one I wanted, Black, no hot seats, 6 disc instead of nav/DVD on the showroom floor at Allen Samuels.

They kept trying to get me in the mag pearl r/t but I didn't need heated seats, and I can read a map...

After a hour of arguing with the saleslady, I wrote her a check, handed it to her, and told her if she wanted to sell me a car, she needed to get the showroom demo back to make ready....

She went to see the sales manager(yeah, right)...funny, when I came back from getting a coffee, the car was no longer in the showroom....maybe the fact that I had faxes from four other dealers offering to order me one at about the same price as the check had something to do with it.

Drive it every day, love the thing, havent had this much fun in a car since I bought my first MGB.

And havent had one bit of trouble out of the dealership as to service.

Wife picked up a rock between the front dust shield and brake rotor...the screech scared the crap out of her.

The dealer came, picked up the car from where she was, test drove it, racked it, pulled the shield and found the rock, then, decided to replace the scarred rotor and pads....at zero charge.

They did have fun test driving it afterwards in their back lot, but hey...

Not to many dealerships do that, do they?

Mike,
Not real sure how much it affects things in real life, but the one we use is a 5 Star Dealership...seems that is big deal inside the Chrysler community.
Guess it gives them bragging rights or something, but they were very sincere about making us happy with their service.
I have been back twice since, first for the rad bracket recall, and the second time for a front end alignment, both times I was out the door in under a hour.

Side bar, does your car pull to the right?
This one did, and almost every other Magnum owner I have spoken to down here said theirs did too.
The service writer said they had to order a bigger bolt? for something in the front end, but they managed to get it into specs this time, and it rides fine now.
I was thinking it was a factory offset...

Just wondering,
Ed

Yep, I've heard the being a '5-star' dealer is a good thing, not sure how these clowns manage to keep that status, I wouldn't trust them to change my oil..oh wait - I already tried that and they blew it!!

Yeah, I was kinda wondering...
We had a LoJack installed, along with an additional alarm..
The tech the dealer sent out to the house told me this was his first LoJack in a Magnum....
He had about half the dash out before he figured out it wasn't wired the same as the Ram...he tired to call his office for a diagram..no joy.
I called the dealer, figuring they should have a wireing schematic...not a chance, they told me to look it up on line at some e-library, for a subscription fee!

This was like two days after I bought the car, and its in my driveway with the dash and the rear panels pulled, and I am supposed to pay for a wireing diagram for them, so they can install something they sold me?.

I called the dealer back, told them I wanted a refund on the Lojack, and to send a flatbed to get the car, I wanted them to put it back together, because the LoJack guy didnt have a clue as to what wires did what.

They, the dealer, sold me the Lojack, so they could fix it.

Weird, the tech kids office called him in about a half hour, asked him if he could go to Kinko's, and get a fax, seems someone "found " a wireing diagram, and they wanted to fax it to him.

Poor kid was in my driveway from 9am to 5pm, in the middle of august in Houston...once he got the fax, took him less than a hour to wire the lojack and alarm in.

He even asked me if I could scan it, and make him a few copies off my computer, so he could give them to his buddies...

Dumb me, I smooth forgot to make a copy for myself!

Called the dealership again, got the service manager on the line, started to gripe...turns out they really didnt have a diagram, but because they had sold me the lojack, and the alarm as a option, he had someone go online and subscribe to the e-libary, print one out, and email it to the lojack people.

He figured I was pretty PO'ed over this, and that it would happen again, so he wanted to keep someone else from having the same frustrations.

Which didnt help me all that much, other than the free oil change he gave in to make up for it, so besides the comp change they always give you, I got the 6000 mile change free...

When I came in for the first oil change, he and his assistant service manager went over the car quite well, making sure the kid got all the panles back correctly, then put it on the diagnostic computer to make sure all the do-dads were working right!

Still, you would think they would be a little better prepared...

I have since found out I was the second buyer for that dealership, the first one was one of their own salesmen, he bought a 6 cly, I was the first Hemi...and everytime I go in, the salesmanager come out and chats, then goes and watches them work on it...I get the feeling they are on a learning curve here!

And the 6cly is a fast little bugger, the salesman already has it tricked out, dualed the exhaust, cold air intake, K&N filter...fast, real fast off the line.

Hi EMB,

I like your signature..."I can tell by the prickling in my thumbs, something wicked this way comes." I think I have read that story at least three times.

Bradbury is a favorite of mine, grew up on him and a few other old school fiction writers.
It also is a line from MacBeth.

But I like Ray's use better...
