Default 2005 R/T Magnum compression loss

I really hope I am posting in the right place, sorry if not!
I have an '05 Magnum R/T with 90k miles that has developed a compression problem in the #4 cylinder. The dealer offered, very kindly, to replace my cylinder head for $2000.00.
After getting it towed back home and starting the job ourselves, it appears that a valve seat managed to come 'loose' and had stuck the valve open. Luckily no other damage appears to have been done.
I could probably get it back into place without pulling the cylinder head, but think it's best to go ahead and pull it. Not too sure why it came loose like that, and I want to make sure, if possible, that it doesnt happen again.
My question is- has anyone else ever dealt with this issue? And if so, any clues as to what might make this happen? Suggestions?
I sure appreciate anyone who can offer some advice, common sense or technical know-how.
Oh, one last thing....LOVE my Bad Boy!
Thanks!
Mike

very serious problem. there is no way to put the seat back in the head without pulling it off. and there is no way i would reuse this head again. buy a brand new head from dodge. the right head is $226 and the left head is $261. this is brand new and complete and ready to bolt on.

i am willing to bet that there is more damage than you think. sorry about this.

by the way, the valve seat cost $2.54

Well, its all good, I appreciate your honesty.
Do you mind elaborating a bit on what you mean by 'more damage'?
I'm very interested in your opinion.
Thanks.

if the valve seat came 'loose', it held the valve open when the piston came to top dead center. the piston most likely has damage, the rest of the valve train on that cylinder is most likely damaged. the cylinder wall maybe damaged as well.

don't even waste your money on fixing that head, buy a new one. the head is damaged too much to get another valve seat to stay put. the valve is surely bent and maybe the pushrod and lifter are messed up too. damage like this takes out many more componets that just a 'loose' valve seat i can tap back in.

what about your warranty?

Well, thanks for the input.
You seem like you may have had this problem yourself...?
If so, which cylinder did you have issues with?
Thanks again.
