Default Ramps or Jackstands?

This may be a dumb question, but this is my 1st car in 10 years of owning all trucks. Whenever I had to get underneath to do any maintnience it was easy, just crawl under. So should I buy a floor jack and a couple stands, or 2 of those big ramp things? What do you prefer?

always had cars and have done quite a work on many of them (long time ago). never worked with ramps, but i can imagine than at times they could be usefull. all i ever had was jacks and stands. and don't forget wheel stops/blocks. it really only depends on how much storage space you have.
greg
PS: you need a jack to take a wheel off

Neither, go with a lift.

lift

Don't ever just use a floor jack unless you want to be referred to as the late InfernoREDRT. Use good jack stands with proper blocking as the previous poster indicated. And by proper you need to skip Harbor Freight. Also I understand Rhino ramps work well. One step beyond that is a Kwiklift (~$1200) and then a 4 post or two post lift (~$3000). I value my life so I went with a 4 post lift as I could see myself killing myself with these other methods.

I'm going with ramps. I can't get my floor jack under the car.

I'm wondering how I can get the dang thing to drive onto a ramp - the ones I have now are too steep of an angle for a lowered Magnum, I had problems getting the 92 Thunderbird up on them and that was nowhere near this close to the ground.

Do they make 'low profile' hydraulic jacks?

I think Blitz makes plastic ramps that's designed for lowered vehicles.

Here is what the manual tells you about jacking up the LX platforms, I hope the attachment works.

I use metal ramps but the car is too low to drive straight up on them so I just throw a few 2X4's in front of the ramp and that lifts the car the perfect amount not to hit the bottom of the car.
Good luck

I was originally going to get these http://www.discountramps.com/sports_car_ramps.htm, but checked out the rhino ramps. Going to get the rhinos and save some $$. Thanks!
