Default RE: Wheels for the AWD Magnum??

Well, I did it. I ordered the 18" Z7s with 42mm offset for my AWD RT (soon to be an R/T, as soon as it warms up so I can put the R/T emblems on).

Boris at bigcustomwheels.com promised they would take it to the local Dodge dealer and try it on before they ship. Since they guarantee fitment, he says it is in their best interest to prove it fits, or they will get it back.

I plan to keep the stock tire size but change from the 4x4 Contis on there now to either the normal Contis or the Pirelli P7 in the same size, but with W vs H speed rating. I don't know if they are worth the price though, the normal Contis you can get at TireRack for $97, the Pirelli is over $200 where I am at, I don't think they are available in the states.

Anyone have an opine on that?

Thanks.

Eric, how wide did you go with the wheels? Having an AWD I'm very interested in how they fit. If you went with 8.5" the 42mm should be good. If you went 7.5" the 42mm should bring the wheel out towards the edge of the finder 13mm more than the factoy wheels. With an 8.5 wheel the offset is going to critical for clearance on the inside and not stick out past the finder edge.

I went with the 7.5" as I want to stay with 225 wide tires. I'm sure that even with the 1/2" less offset, it will not stick out too far. Almost all of the 18" were 7.5 (all of the Zinik for sure), some were 8, and only a few 8.5.

I talked to a few folks, and the sales guy Boris, and they all did not think 1/2" was too much, although I myself am skeptical. What the hey, it will look good if nothing else.

What's your opinion of the Contis vs the Pirellis at double the price?

I think you will be ok. 1/2" is not going to bring it out hardly at all. Ironically I was looking at those very same wheels in 20", but want something in grey or hyperblack with polished lip to match Magnum color. Good luck with the wheels...Later.

So, boo hoo, bigcustomwheels.com can't sell Zinik anymore and TireRack (the now exclusive distributor) does not list anything for the AWD Magnum.

Back to the drawing board, I let my wife pick the wheels out of 5 choices and she picked these. MKW M20 Chrome 18x7.5 ET45 PCD 5x114.3 (5x4.5). It probably would have been my choice as well, the other ones I was considering were almost double the price of these.

They should ship within 3 days.

They look real close to the Zinik. Spokes are a little different, but very close. So your going with 45mm offset? Looks good! let me know how they work out!

Eric, by the way, the offset on the factory AWD wheels is 55mm. It is stamped on the inside of the wheel. I pulled one and looked.

Thanks,

My wife said these match the "Retro" look of the Magnum. She actually used the word "Retro", and she's German....

I went with the 45 ET as this is the closest I could find to factory 55. There were some nice ones with 40 ET, but I just thought that was too much. Maybe I'm a worry wart.
