Default burnt bulbs behind controls

I don't drive my wifes care (or she doesn't allow me to drive it much) but when I drove it the other night I noticed that the bulbs behind the heater controls have burnt out. I haven't stared at the dash too much, but any suggestions on how much of the console will need to come off and what bulb I will need? I am just wondering if I will need to strip the whole care down to change a 25 cent bulb.

Thanks for any help.

The bulb can not be replaced, You need to replace the heater control assy.

Holy Cow. After emptying my pants, I called the stealership and with my discount it is only $100.00. Still, that is crazy! Can a guy take that unit apart and maybe replace that bulb?

To give you the full story, it has been getting dim for a while now. Over the last year, one of the dials has been totally dead. Then last week she told me that the other dial have gone out fully. I am really hoping that mice haven't done any damage. Bulbs just getting dim sounds weird. What are your thought??

Thanks for the replay master!

The lights that illuminate my speedo, tach, fuel, etc. gages are not working. Everything else--including the gages and electronic displays--work. I removed part of the dash, but cannot locate any bulbs.

As far as I can tell, the instrument cluster illumination is handled by a electro-luminescent lamp unit. I'm not sure if is seperate, or part of the cluster itself. I am trying to find out and I'll post what I come up with.

It looks like that lamp unit is part of the circuit board. I can't find it seperate anywhere, and it's not cheap.

What's "not cheap" mean...in dollars?
Is there an official name to the part that needs to be replaced?

It appears to be part of the cluster itself. I heard around $500.
