Does the Magnum RT get zapped with the gas guzzler tax?

 

i know the srt 10 got zapped with a $7000 gas guzzler tax on orders made after february 6, 2005

 

Wow! Really?!

 

Ram SRT10 or Viper? That seems awful high even for the Viper.

Magnum R/T = $0
Magnum SRT8 = $0
300C = $0
300C SRT8 = $2100

 

The Ram SRT-10 is a pickup. Pickups are exempt from the gas guzzler tax. The Magnum SRT8 is also consider a truck by the EPA.

I saw a 300C SRT8 at the dealer. The sticker had NO gas guzzler tax on it. The dealer however did have a $10,000.00 "Dealer Incentive" premium on it.

I think the gas guzzler tax would have been cheaper.

The 300 SRT8 has a $2100.00 gas guzzler tax. http://photobucket.com/albums/y141/q...300SRT8013.jpg It's the second to last item, above the destination charge. I just ordered one and the Magnum SRT8 is exempt.

the dealer showed me a letter stating that the srt 10 pick-ups will get the gas guzzler tax added. they had just beat it with their february 5th order. i was in the dealer at the time ordering my magnum.

 

I recall reading on 300cforums.com that some very early 300C SRT8's were in fact exempt from the $2100 GGT, but I do not recall the exact circumstances.

 

I check the EPA website and the 2005 RAM SRT10 6spd and auto is not listed as being taxed. The only Dodge that has the tax is the Viper.
