Default Tires - Cupping Edges

I have about 8,800 miles on my RT with the Continental self sealing tires.

The tires look okay, but if you run your fingers over the outer edge of both front tires, you feel a "cupped" edge.

Maybe due to tire pressure too low and agressive cornering? That's my guess.

I think the tire info says to run 30 pounds of air in the front tires, I have since upped the tire pressure in all 4 tires to 35 pounds of air.

Anyone else have this problem?

Bob

Mine started at about 4000 miles. The dealer says its the tires. I wonder if anyone has changed tires and if so did that solve the problem or did it start on the new rubber?

My Black RT has 4,000 miles on it now(128 hours)six months old.Build date 10/04/04. I had dealer do a front end aligment for light feathering on outside edge of both front tires at 3,000 miles. Also rotated tires then. I bought a life time tire balance & rotate at every 6,000 miles.I think the magnum will need to have tires rotated for feathering of front tires on a regular bases. I am hoping Michelin has a tire size for Magnum when the orgnial tires wear out. I run 32 psi in tires. most of miles were interstate at 70 MPH going to casino boat. No, I don't win but wife is lucky she win alots. Keeps me in free meals and free room. My Black Magnum RT is orginal except for an K&N drop in air cleaner element. I really like Magnum, drive nice, smooth, quite, powerful, and stands out in a crowd. When I was younger I liked those loud exhaust and laying down those black rubber marks on streets.I have been there and done that but have grown up a little and just like Magnum the way it is orginal.MPG is getting better each trip I take. I am getting over the 25 MPG estimated on window sticker. I have seen several 26+ MPG round trips of 250 miles. The best I have ever seen was a 75 mile trip @ 70 MPH got 27.1MPG

I also keep mine stock at 22 years. I like the quiet smooth ride. If i put exhaust on I will just burn more gas. I am going to stay away from k&n they just don;t filter as well as a stock filter. I live in very dusty enviroment.

I am running my Contis at 42 psi. No noticable wear yet. Rotating them at 5k.

42 PSI, more like balloons. The ride must feel like you are driving with rocks for tires...

It's stiff, but no more than my 2000 Mustang GT.

I have the same issue. You are not alone, i was talking to my dealer and this is a big issue , go back to your dealer and and let them now you have a problem. Its the tires them selves. The compound is to soft as i have done a front end alignment and checked the tires. Please tell all the magnum guys you now to make a complaint and they Dodge has to replace all the tires and or have a recall on them . they do not want to that as the car is selling well so i figure they will at least replace the tires.
