cabin noise...
Interior noise…
I now have 600 miles on my 2006 Magnum R/T.
I have noticed an echoing, rumbling sound as I drive down the highway. Is this from the tires? There is no wind noise or engine noise, but it is very obvious inside the car. My wife says “my Toyota 4 runner is much more quite.” The Lincoln Town car I traded in for this Magnum was a very quite car on the highway. I am thinking it is the tires. The highways here in California are in bad shape, very rough, so the tires are more prone to being noisy.
Does anyone else have this cabin reverb?
Old Bob
PS I agree with others who have made posts on the early 2006 models. These are 2005’s with a few cosmetic changes.

Old Bob N.E. Ca.,
I have a 2005 Magnum RT made on 11/05/04. I also drove up to Stockton, Yosemite, Fresno and back to O.C. No Noise what-so-ever. The quietness of the car is one of the aspects I liked. A darn luxury car that has a Hemi. Sweet.... Quiet, Smooth, Awesome Interior... I love this car. Take your Magnum to a good dealership if it is too noisy, but before you let them work on it, test drive a new Magnum equal to yours and see if it makes the same noise. If yours is different from the new one, seek Service.

Old Bob,
It's tire noise.
Contrary to some of you might think, a Magnum is noisy compare to some of the REAL QUITE cars out there. My Toyota Sienna van is way quieter and I can see the Town Car quieter too.
I have run the Magnum at a road racing track and the OE tires surprised me as to how much grip and feel they have, considering they are rated as touring all-seasons. Generally, better handling tires have stiffer sidewalls and more noise transmission. It's a compromise.

I think my car is pretty quit, my wife has a Sevelle STS with Michelin tires and is a smooth quite ride. The Magnum is also as smooth and quite. But I had rather drive the Magnum RT. When driving on a black top road Magnum is really smooth and quite but I drove on a concrete road last week that had been groved and the road noise did transfer into car a little. So I can see that the type of road you drive on makes a big difference in cabin noise.
old Bob turn your hearing aid down a little.

Old Bob,
What brand of tires do you have on your 06? My 05' RT came with the self sealing Continentals and mine is very quiet inside, of course my FlowMasters and cold air intake may be drowning out any cbin noise.
When bone stock, my RT was way too quiet, which is why the FlowMasters went on.
The only cabin noise I get is from the VentVisors I installed on the side windows, they tend to whistle a little at certain speeds.
I usually drive with the radio off, would rather listen to the Hemi engine.

the best solution that i have found to cabin noise is the radio, however i did line all the cabin walls in my el camino with a dynamat like product (heavy cloth with asphalt tar blend self adhesive backing,
it made the interior very quiet. But the suprising effect was how much it muffled the stereo on the outside, at concert levels inside all you heard outside was the toolbox rattling. However this solution may be a little extreme given the acres of interior inside are wagons.
my car is definently not quite even with the radio off, the flowmaster rumble, and the low profile tires humming, but i don't mind because it gives me a sense power and satisfaction even with a 2.7 you can still make some enjoyable racket. unlike my '02 pontiac gran prix gtp that could run laps around the magnum and never be noticed, but what fun is that

The tires that came on my ’06 are:
ContiTouring Contact
P225/60 R18 99H M+S
DOT AF 70 2YC
Treadwear 360 Traction A Temperature A
Standard Load
Made in PORTUGAL
I really think it is tire noise. The sound changes with the road surface. When crossing a newly repaired section of asphalt, the noise lessens or stops, depending on the smoothness of the road.
